Just been to a lovely Afternoon Tea and talk about Smocking organised by Dane Valley Group of WIs. The sandwiches and cakes were gorgeous as always. For those ladies who attended here's a picture of me in my smocked dress made by my mum, forgot to take it with me - Linda Taylor.

Lovely evening at Dane Valley Group Spring Meeting last night where we had the delightful job of organising the refreshments. Barton Silver Band were very entertaining.

Looks like they all had fun, I'm sure the lovely weather helped.

What a lovely Afternoon Tea at the Community Centre this lunchtime. Very good value for money. Altogether 19 members enjoyed the scones with of course jam and clotted cream, custard tarts and marble cakes along with a lovely selection of sandwiches, not to mention the amounts of tea and coffee we consumed! When can we do it again? Well done to all the staff and volunteers at Taste for Life.

This Morning on ITV discussed the benefits of the WI. Alison Hammond said her sister was a member and that she's thinking of joining. 30,000 new members this year can't be wrong.

If you're a member why did you join and if you're not a member what is the barrier to you joining?

With face to face and Virtual WIs available and just a couple of months before the new membership year it's a great time to check us out.

If you're not a member of the WI yet January is a fabulous time to try us out due to the pro-rata rate from January.

Join in January - receive the benefits of membership plus attendance at Jan, Feb and March for a maximum of £11.50.

Some WIs may have reduced their rate for the 2023-4 subscription and you could benefit. Full annual membership then in April, when it is not generally such a costly time of year.

Why not seek your local WI and give it a go. It really could enhance your life.
