Janelle has been a long-time volunteer for Sioux Empire Pit Rescue, after adopting her first dog Lucy. Since then she has adopted Waffles, but has become an invaluable part of the team. Janelle assists with everything from training volunteers, teaching classes, babysitting dogs, transporting, screen potential adopters….you name it! Janelle lives in Sioux Falls and has never been to a beard competition but is excited to be a part of it!

Jim is the 2023 South Dakota Beard Clash Best in Show winner and is coming back to judge this year! Jim had a goatee for decades and in 2018 decided to see what would happen if he let it grow. Jim lives in Marshall, Minnesota and has been in competitive bearding for three years. He enjoys that it allows its participants the ability to be creative and have fun, while still giving to the community!

Since it is National Dog Day, it is fitting to remind you of the selected charity....the Empire Pit Rescue.

This charity near and dear to our members’ hearts, the Sioux Empire Pit Rescue. Several of our members have been long-time fosters and/or volunteers with the rescue and can tell you firsthand what the rescue does and about the dogs they have saved.

As an all-volunteer bully breed nonprofit dog rescue located in Sioux Falls, SD, SEPR dogs all live in foster home as there is no facility or paid staff. Dogs come from areas with breed specific locations, shelters where they could be euthanized for overcrowding, or dogs who may be overlooked in shelters because of medical issues or special needs. SEPR is committed to finding great dogs great homes and work diligently to do so. Some of the dogs have been in the program several years like Pixie Stixx, Cobain, Holstein, and Rocko. Since 2009, SEPR has brought over 650 dogs into their foster program. SEPR works diligently to find homes for these dogs, but also to promote responsible dog ownership, which includes their community outreach program and education. All this great work and medical needs take money, so we are happy to help them in their efforts as the selected charity for .

South Dakota Beard Clash Presented by Honest Amish and Tito's Handmade Vodka Judge Announcement #2! ✌

My name is Tim Seeger from Hudson, WI and I am the current Vice President of the Minnesota Beard and Moustache Coalition. I became a member of the MBMC in 2014 and have been on the executive board for the past 6 years. I started growing my beard in 2013 and in December of 2017 I decided to change it up and rock the chops. Best decision ever. The best thing about bearding is meeting new people and creating friendships and also raising money for charity. My first beard competition was in January 2015. My favorite competition memories are Nationals in 2022 in Casper, WY where I took 1st place in Natural Sideburns and Beards Behind Bars in 2018 which was held at the Ohio State Reformatory where the movie Shawshank Redemption was filmed. I've competed in approximately 40 competitions and judged a handful of others. I'm looking forward to coming to Sioux Falls and hanging out with a great group of bearded people.

Excited to announce a returning judge to Beard Clash, Jason Schafer.

Jason is currently the #2 full beard freestyle in the world, placing second at the World Beard and Moustache Championship in Germany! Jason has had facial hair most of his adult life, and joined the bearding community in January 2016 by participating in a competition in Minneapolis. He met some amazing people there and was instantly hooked. Since then Jason has traveled the country to compete, raise money for charities, and to build friendships that are the foundation of the bearding community. Jason is currently the on the board of the Minnesota Beard and Moustache Coalition. Jason also was part of breaking the Guinness World Record for longest beard chain, and was lucky enough to have a picture with him and 2 others shown on national media, including the Colbert Show! Jason has placed at many competions throughout the years with some of the notable placings at Ely MN, Charleston SC, Omaha NE, Wichita KS, Austin TX, Scranton PA, Snowbird UT, Souix Falls SD, and more. Notable placings of 2nd place Garibaldi at 2021 Nationals, 3rd place Full Beard Freestyle at Great American 2022, 1st place full beard freestyle 1st place overall freestyle and Best in Show at CASI 16 in 2022. 3rd place full beard freestyle at the 2022 nationals. Jason has judged the moustache run competition, Thief River Falls MN competition, and Blue Ribbon Beard Bonanza in Cambridge MN and is excited to return to Judge Beard Clash 2023!
