Finally, after many requests, I have set new dates for spring/summer 2025! Join me on a week full of sewing inspiration and go home with your own handmade beautiful Chanel inspired jacket! On day 1 I will help you with a perfect fit for your body. Next, we go to Amsterdam to find the most beautiful fabric and trim. Day 2-7 you will sew your jacket according to the techniques Madame Chanel invented herself. Lunches, drinks and snacks are all included, my studio is situated in a beautiful ancient 14th century bell tower in the gorgeous small city of historic Edam. In 2023, I traveled through Japan for 5 weeks and was struck by the incredible high level of artisanal craft in every detail of society. I visited Kobe’s fashion museum and spent a whole day in their amazing fashion library!.There, I found some books on the art of hand sewing kimono’s, a craft going back thousands of years. I was intrigued by the way no fabric is wasted, seams folded in a origami like way and hand stitches not known outside of Japan. Once at home, I decided to study and learn these techniques myself, which took me a whole year. I crafted a course about handsewing the Yukata, a summer variant of the kimono. And now you have the chance to join me in November in Tokyo where I will teach you to handsew your own kimono. But that’s not all: we will have fun with a morning workshop in a indigo dye factory, where you will learn everything about the famous Japanese dark blue indigo dyeing process, we will spend a day at the famous fabric district in Tokyo to buy our kimono fabric, we will visit the national museum in Tokyo and we will have a lesson in the beautiful traditional tea ceremony!

We are looking for one or more trainees for our atelier in Edam, the Netherlands. Are you an enthusiastic seamstress and would you like to learn the skills of haute couture sewing? Projects you might work on are: Ballet costumes, theatre costumes, French couture jackets, traditional Japanese kimono, silk high end kaftans, bridalwear and more! Are chanel jackets originally quilted by hand or machine?

Chanel jackets are renowned for their craftsmanship, which includes elements that are both hand-done and machine-done. The quilting on Chanel jackets is traditionally done by machine, especially for attaching the fabric to the lining. This process helps to give the jackets their structured yet soft shape. However, other aspects of Chanel jackets, like the finishing touches and some of the sewing details, are often completed by hand, reflecting the brand’s commitment to high-quality and artisanal craftsmanship. Restoring two Chanel jackets for one of my lovely clients, love to see how it looks on the inside. Feeling so blessed with my life! 5 years ago I started this adventure, not knowing what was ahead, with a vision in mind😻, Corona struck and for 2 years I was trying to keep my head above the water. At some point I started Doing mending and alteration work for my village and that saved me and my business 🙏 Lot’s of lessons learned, and my love for sewing only grew bigger. 🙏💫❤️🧵🪡 ✂️

Yesterday was day 7 of the French Couture Jacket sewing retreat and everyone worked really hard to finish their jacket. Trims sewn on, sleeves were quilted and hand sewn in up to the last minute. Thanks to all wonderful ladies for another fab week! ❤️

And….Lift off! 😆 Today I visited the fashion museum in Kobe, Japan. What a lovely suprise! I sat in the fashion Library all afternoon, studying new couture techniques, kimono styles and Japanese textiles. I ‘m in Japan for a whole month and am blown away by the Japanese style ofdressing. Also, I am bliwn away by the fabric district in Tokyo, more than 80 shops with fabric and haberdashery. I bought some real gems, can’t wait to get home and start sewing💕🥳🎊❤️
