A Healthier Jeny
This started as my weight loss journey (A Littler Me) and is now about becoiming healthier (A Health
Moving along nicely. Little losses each week but at least I’m losing for the most part and it will hopefully be easier to keep off.
Tuesdays and Thursdays I get off work early and it’s 105° today (85° in the house) so I made myself a cool snack for afternoon snack.
Lunch was an adult lunchable!
Trying to focus on getting more protein in. Breakfast was Oikos protein yogurt (15g protein) with Quaker protein granola (11g protein) and berries.
One of my favorite delivery meals for lunch at work. Vegan spring rolls with peanut sauce. So good!!
Instant Pot lentil tacos for dinner tonight. So good and filling!
Just finished week 3 on Contrave, and I’m down 5.8 lbs! Slow and steady but more than I’ve been able to lose in years.
Week 1 -2
Week 2 -1.4
Week 3 -2.4
I’ll take it. On to week 2 on Contrave at 1:1
Well 💩
Made a high protein peanut butter dip for my apple for snack.
5 oz Vanilla Greek yogurt
2 Tbsp natural peanut butter (I like TJ)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used Orgain plant based vanilla oat milk protein)
Topped with cacao nibs
Ate more frequently today as opposed to yesterday but calorie wise I still feel I did good, especially for a weekend.
Day 2 and already amazed by this (not so) little pill. I didn’t go to bed thinking about food and I didn’t wake up thinking about food. I had a protein shake this morning when I took it and didn’t eat again until a few hours later when I had some hummus and veggies. I’m not starving and I’m not constantly thinking about food. Even the kids leftovers didn’t seem appetizing to me. I’ll take it!
I know everyone has their own opinions and choices, which I respect, so hopefully everyone can respect mine. I spoke with my GP today and we decided for my health it’s best to start weight loss meds. Starting tomorrow I’ll be on Contrave.
Contrave contains a combination of bupropion and naltrexone. Bupropion is an antidepressant medicine that can also decrease appetite. Naltrexone is usually given to block the effects of opioids or alcohol in people with addiction problems. Naltrexone may also curb hunger and food cravings.
The hope is to quiet the food noise as they say and lose some weight for my health. After having my hysterectomy and multiple ailments we decided it was the best bet. No guarantee this will be the “wonder drug” and we may have to try something else eventually but we agreed this is the best place to start.
I’ll update along the way the best I can.
Today I had a veggie and fruit smoothie for breakfast, black bean patty and sweet potatoes with an agua Fresca for lunch and a ramen stir fry. So much good tasting food day. My stomach and my soul is content.
Yesterday’s food.
Has anyone tried Dave’s NOT chicken?! This is my second time having it. It’s so good! I got the not chicken slider and fries. Yum!!
This was my lunch plan for yesterday at work but forgot the wrap at home 🤦🏻♀️ so I couldn’t stop thinking about it so had it for lunch today. As good as I hoped for!! Huge filling and satisfying wrap.
Tonight was taco night. Ground beef tacos for the family and tostadas for me, smashed avocado, black beans, lettuce, pico de gallo and cilantro yogurt dressing. So good and filling
My version of a McGriddle meal. Trader Joe’s griddle cakes, Morning Star Farms “sausage” patty and a fried egg with a bottle of Evolution juice
A day of yummies. My dietician wants more fruits and veggies so I keep plugging along! 🤪
Meal prep Sunday with help from my daughter. This week’s high protein egg bites are bell peppers, potato, broccoli, impossible ground sausage and canned green chilies with eggs, egg whites and cottage cheese.

First time for everything!
Had my first (decaf) coffee in about 6 months. My dietitian said once a week should be ok. Breakfast was meal prep veggie egg cups, lunch was a salad my manager brought me and dinner was tortellini minestrone with plant based Parmesan cheese and garlic bread
Made some high protein veggie packed egg cups for work breakfasts this week. Eggs, egg whites, cottage cheese, bell pepper, onion, zucchini and broccoli
Another day of eating. Trying to figure out what does and doesn’t affect my stomach and gut.
Today was pretty simple.
Speaking with my dietitian we agreed for me to try to find some lower calorie/lower sugar drinks for when I do Starbucks. Today I went with an iced passion tea with no sweetener. It was really good and ZERO calories. I’d drink it again! And it was half the price!!!
Today was a good day! Met with my dietitian to go over things since it’s almost 2 months vegetarian. Talked more about what I can add and not about what I need to take away. She was pretty happy with things, just wants me to up my veggies more. We also added B12 and D3 back in since my last numbers were a little lower than she’d like to see
One of our favorite soups is Zuppa Toscana. Tonight I made it using IMPOSSIBLE ground sausage. My meat eating husband loved it and ate 2 bowls!!
