Arts, Health & Careers Counselling. Therapeutic Arts and Health combined with Careers Counselling
Arts Therapist (Degree Apprenticeship) MSc course | Teesside University Art psychotherapy is a rapidly expanding intervention within sectors including health, education, and social care.
Recently I have discovered a route to become a HCPC qualified Art Therapist via a Apprenticeship. Anyone with a degree in Art, Music or Drama can now access Arts Therapist (Degree Apprenticeship) MSc course at Teesside University
due to commence September 2023.
Teesside University are offering this course for the first time as a response to the need for the skills. Educational establishments can access the funding via the Government Apprenticeship levy, with no costs for the schools.
This is a great opportunity for the school to upscale any current staff members to have a trained/registered Arts Therapist in residence. This has all come about due to the NHS /CAMHS being overwhelmed and recognising not enough professionals with the skills to work with mental health in a different way to CBT. This course has been created as a solution to the large CAMHS waiting lists.
I would be able to merge my Arts degree, Teaching and Careers Counselling to work within a field that I have witnessed to be under skilled and valued but greatly needed.
On that note I am looking for a short term contract to access the government levy. I could work in a capacity as Teacher, Careers Consultant or Cover Supervisor/LSA. The establishment could be mainstream, SEN or PRU. In particular it would be working closely with SEMH.
It would be really helpful if anybody working in a educational establishment could 'Like' and share this post.
Thanks
