This is a very controversial topic because most of us grew up greasing our scalp, and still do. That’s what our Mum’s taught us- The question is should we be doing that?

The truth is our scalp naturally produces its own oils. For some people, moisturizing their scalp helps prevent dryness, while for others it makes their scalp issues worse.

When someone complains about itchy scalp or dandruff, I usually ask if they’ve seen a dermatologist because there are different types of Seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff is just one of them. Most times we classify everything under dandruff.

I’ve seen a lot of people say their scalp mostly flares when they use an oil. If you suffer from any scalp issues, my advice will be to see a doctor and switch between oiling your scalp and making sure no styling product or oil touches your scalp, to see what works for you.

Do what works for you, and be honest with yourself.

The key to long hair is low manipulation . Your hair might be growing but if you’re not retaining length, hair growth will be stagnant.

1) Trimming your hair helps you get rid of split ends. Split ends encourage tangling and breakage. However, your hair doesn’t grow faster when you trim. Trimming only minimizes breakage, so don’t over do it if not you hair will be stagnant.

2) When I started blow drying my hair, I made a couple of mistakes; not properly detangling before using a blow dryer, being impatient and not working with small sections. I wanted to use a blow dryer as a quick route but it led to extreme breakage. Be gentle, and remember to do protein treatments if you use heat. You can order the Deep conditioner which has keratin and wheat protein.

3). Less manipulation = more length. You don’t have to moisturize your hair everyday or every two days. On wash day and one during the week is fine. Put your hair in styles that don’t require constant manipulation.

Did a remake. Our hair grows, just adopt a good hair routine which consists of you giving your hair moisture. Use your fingers to detangle more often than combs/brushes and massage your scalp with a hair growth stimulant like the growth oil.Remember hair grows 1/4, 1/2 or 1 inch a month.
