Steyning Festival hosted Tracing the Rails on Saturday night for a film screening and Q&A with our presenters Stephen Cranford, Mike Jaimes, Director Chris T Kirk, and contributors to the series so far. The house was packed as we showed a cut down version of Episode 1 and some edited segments of Episode 2 (which we hope to have finished this month). We loved meeting so many people who share our passion for the old Steyning Line. Thanks to Nick from Steyning Festival for inviting us to take part and opening the event on the night and to everyone who came along to support this project. Proceeds from ticket sales will be going to Steyning and Henfield Museums.

The crew were filming along the river by the Beeding Cement Works yesterday, and were over the moon to find, hidden in the undergrowth, the footings and concrete pillars from the old Beeding signal box. They even found an old milk bottle from Southwick Dairy hidden in the earth beneath. Other highlights were the remains of the old railway bridge, the strong line of the railbed heading North to Boltophs and stunning views of the Cement Works across the river. We even met one of our subcribers along the way! If you see us out and about filming please do come and say hello. And if you are local don't forget we are appearing in the Steyning Festival as Tracing The Rails with a screening of some of Episode 1 one a sneaky preview of some of Episode 2, with a Q&A with contributors and our presenters Stephen and Mike on Sat June the 1st. For more info and to book tickets see the Steyning Festival website - we are under 'talks'.

TTRs transport historian Mike Jaimes visited this week to explore one of the industries connected to the old Steyning Line - brick making. Mike & the crew were given an amazing welcome by the Brickwork's staff and was in his element surrounded by steam power in its many forms! This fascinating place is well worth a trip and we look forward to sharing some of our visit later in the series. www.thebrickworksmuseum.org

Episode One of Tracing The Rails launches Tuesday! Last night we had a Preview of the Directors cut for contributors, took notes and are now making final edits. So, 7pm UK time, Tuesday 30th April, Episode One will go live on our You Tube channel - Tracing the Rails Productions. We're pretty excited to share it with you! We held the Preview at the White Horse Inn in Steyning, seemed appropriate, as the Steyning Line began there as an idea and then an agreement in 1856.

TTRs was delighted to be asked by to cut the ribbon at the grand opening of the new local history boards on the site of old Bramber station on Friday. Here he is wielding the official scissors amongst the amazing people who made this project happen and we have to say - we'd love to see more of these boards along the line! Whst do you think?

TTR were granted rare permission by Steve Dudman and The Dudman Group to film at Beeding Cement Works today. Halfway along the old Steyning Line this place is an iconic local landmark on private land. Once a thriving local industry, now the plant lies empty and derelict, and the buildings are too dangerous to enter. We traced the rails from the riverside wharf into the heart of the quarry and look forward to sharing our journey with you in Episode 2. Thanks to Lynette of Dudman for looking after us.

The crew are getting ready to film at a special location tomorrow, having been granted special access. More details soon!

TTR out and about in Shorehan by Sea over the Bank Holiday weekend, last filming day for Episode One! We're now well into the edit.

TTR were back at West Grinstead today, capturing footage of the trackside primroses in their brief blooming season to illustrate a lovely railway story of enterprising locals. Watch out for that in Episode One!

Here's a glimpse behind the scenes from TTRs weekend filming in Shoreham by Sea. It was glorious sunshine down on the river path where the Steyning Line used to run alongside the River Adur. Sad to see that the rails are no longer in the footpath by the old Toll Bridge but relocated and hidden in the grassy verge, and that the buffers are now also very overgrown. It was great to meet so many local people, some who didn't realise there used to be a railway line right where they were walking, and some of you who had already seen our demo episode online. Director, Chris has started the edit and with one more day's filming, we should be ready to assemble Episode One. We are all very excited for the day that we can show you that!

The TTR crew were out and about Tracing The Rails in Shoreham by Sea at the weekend. Here's our braving some changeable weather to piece together the story of the start (or is it the end?) of the old Steyning Line. Many thanks to the staff at Shoreham station for being so acommodating and allowing us to film on the platforms. We'll post a few more behind the scenes photos of us filming later in the week!

Filming at Bramber this week. First the brilliant Lost Railway History Boards on the site of Bramber Station, where we met Russel from Steyning & District Community Partnership, who led their installation, for an interview. (Our Stephen Cranford will be cutting the ribbon at their official opening soon...). And then on to Robins Haunt and Bramber Castle for some investigation with our transport historian Mike Jaimes.
