A heartfelt thank you to all who took part in the book hunt this week. I'm so grateful to the Upton Blues Festival for sponsoring all the books, and to my husband, Jacob, for distributing so many of them on the days I've been unwell. (Keep your eyes peeled - there may be a few left!)

Please can I ask a massive favour to all that took part? I am writing an evaluation of the book hunt to the Upton Blues Festival, and the Malvern Gazette want to do a piece on the book hunt over the next couple of weeks. Please could you comment below with any comments/photos/quotes (and names) that I can use for the evaluation, Malvern Gazette and social media?

This week we had our first book club discussing 'You Could Be So Pretty'. A dystopian world where women are labelled as Pretty, Objectionable, Invisible or Try Hards. We thoroughly enjoyed a lively debate on the themes of the book and the parallels in today's society.

I'm so fortunate that I don't get car sick - it gives me a good chance to get into a book. This is the final book in the Gilded Ones trilogy which has only recently been released. One chapter in and I'm hooked!

*The Merciless Ones review*

After the fast paced end of the The Gilded Ones (the first book in the trilogy), I was really excited to start this book. I'd already fallen in love with Deka, the main character who has had to adapt to her changing world on her quest for truth. Yet, she remains so human with the need to cry to relieve emotions and grieve loved ones. The first book is all about female empowerment, but this book delves deeper into the the complex challenges for equality, and sacrifices which are needed. Despite this fantatsy world, Namina Forna continues to find clever ways that give you parralls into todays society and the challenges we face for peace and equality. My favourite character in this books is Britta, Deka's best friend who is the source of reason and loyal to a fault (think Frodo and Sam in LotR). This book contains graphic violence and is not suitable for young teens, Usborne recommend age 14+.
