A part of this job any of us donโ€™t think about โ€” our love for our senior clients is given but we never expect to be the member they choose to say โ€œhey my job is done hereโ€ when itโ€™s time. Iโ€™ve been through these moments a lot (personally) but Bax left right as we were getting to know each other. One thing I will always pride myself in is that I donโ€™t just drop and leave my clients in times of urgency or departure (it can get messy, Iโ€™m a one women show right now and I will hold every clients privacy at heart). I am human first and while I process this Iโ€™m so thankful to all my clients (you all have hearts of gold and trust); I will gladly move forward from those who canโ€™t have a compassionate heart or common courtesy. Due to this my policies are back on in full force. On the Lunar eclipse Bax said good bye as I held his paw. In all of this Iโ€™m deeply saddened for the family and I pray they donโ€™t hold guilt onto themselves. Pets grieve as well and this is a sensitive time during a busy season. So I ask us all to channel the heart of dogs during this time and practice unconditional love, truality, and unselfishness. Please send good vibes and prayers to Bax family ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿถ

The difference between Professional pet sitters and professional app pet sitters-

Professional pet sitters have their own insurance policies and coverage for a reason, please educate people about the differences

Heads up:
if you use a pet sitter or someone through Rover to board your dog PLEASE ask them if they have their OWN business insurance policy. If they say they donโ€™t need it because Rover โ€˜takes care of itโ€™s, think again.

The new terms and service doesnโ€™t cover or protect the sitter/boarderโ€ฆand often times the boarder doesnโ€™t have permission from landlord if they rent, nor do they have the adequate coverage to board dogs. Rover does have a policy in place called the Rover Guarantee however, everyone that uses that app-based pet service needs to know what it is.

From their website:

Rover has no liability for any claims, injuries, loss, harm and/or damages arising from and/or in any way related to your interactions or dealings with other users and the acts and/or omissions of Service Providers and Pet Owners, whether online or offline. You acknowledge and agree that, to the maximum extent permitted by the applicable law, YOUR USE AND/OR PROVISION OF PET CARE SERVICES IS AT YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE RISK. (Any financial obligations Rover may have to its users in connection with user conduct are limited to the reimbursement obligations set forth in the Rover Guarantee.)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is why pet care services are a luxury and why I say Rover is DoorDash for your pets. Rover sitters are classified as independent contractors (not sure how thatโ€™ll change on march 11th when/if the law passes thatโ€™ll make any โ€œside gigโ€ job void of hiring IC) and since theyโ€™ve been bought out their verbiage has changed. The most concerning change Iโ€™ve seen is that Rover will hold no liability for any damage or cause, their guarantee seems to show itโ€™s absolute lack of usefulness on any part and if the sitter doesnโ€™t have their own insurance Rover is looking at it to be solely on the sitter/client to cover costs of injury or damage; and that means if a Rover โ€œclientโ€ was injured under the care of a โ€œsitterโ€ (with 100% proof) the sitter would be 100% responsible to cover those charges. While that sounds fair and all, Iโ€™m pretty certain that sitter didnโ€™t read that in the terms and conditions and is unaware of this. Meaning Rover will deactivate their account (thereโ€™s been accounts to this claim)and charges could still be pressed. Not an ideal situation, and this can go the other way around. Sitters have been attacked by clients and Rover has claimed no liability so the sitter whose low prices are already being deducted by 20% has to seek out their own care and pay out of pocket (what job do you go to everyday and, if you got injured on the job, they say โ€œsounds like itโ€™s your fault and problemโ€??)

To care for a pet should be as vetted as childcare is now a days, convenience is not a luxury anymore itโ€™s a liability.

Ever wondered about the positive impact pet sitting can have on our fur babies? It's not just about keeping them fed and watered โ€“ there's a profound effect on their well-being that often goes unnoticed. Let's dive into some of my favorite positive outcomes of pet sitting that make it more than just a service.

Pets thrive in their own environments. When you choose pet sitting, you're allowing your pets to stay in the comfort of their familiar surroundings. This stability reduces stress, ensuring they feel secure and at ease.

In a bustling pet care facility, individual attention can be limited. With pet sitting, your furry companions receive one-on-one care, affection, and playtime tailored to their specific needs. This personal touch contributes to their happiness and emotional well-being.

Pets love routine, and disruptions can be stressful. Pet sitters uphold their regular schedules โ€“ from feeding times to walks and play sessions. Consistency in routine brings a sense of stability that positively impacts their behavior and overall demeanor.

Pets often experience anxiety when separated from their owners. Pet sitting minimizes this stress, providing companionship and familiarity. This personalized attention helps alleviate separation issues, creating a more relaxed and contented pet.

One of the perks of pet-sitting is the close monitoring of your pet's health. From dietary needs to any signs of discomfort or illness, a dedicated pet sitter can quickly identify issues and seek prompt veterinary care if necessary. This proactive approach ensures your pets are in the best possible health.

Staying active is vital for a pet's well-being. Pet sitters engage in playtime and walks, ensuring your pets get the exercise they need. This not only contributes to their physical health but also helps in maintaining a balanced and happy disposition.

For pets, bonding with their human is essential. With pet sitting, the uninterrupted bonding time between the pet and the caregiver fosters a strong connection. This positive interaction strengthens the human-animal bond, making your pets feel loved and secure.

Choosing pet sitting isn't just a convenience โ€“ it's a commitment to the holistic well-being of your furry companions. From the comfort of their home to personalized care and attention, the positive effects of pet-sitting create an environment where your pets can thrive emotionally, mentally, and physically. ๐Ÿพ

I took it slow into this new year to really destress from the holidays and appreciate the amazing support I got filling my December calendar. But itโ€™s January- two years ago I took the jump to make this my full time job, while life took some wild unexpected turns in those two years Iโ€™m more than excited to grow and fill this calendar again for 2024.

January is usually more heavy with drop in care and walks so I want to leave that information here:

Dog walks-

$35 (60min walk)
Additional-
Holidays start at $35/walk
Additional dog is $15/walk
Puppies (2 years or younger) are $30/walk

Drop in care-
$30 per visit (average 30-45mins)

Additional-
Holidays start at $45 per visit
Additional dog is $15 per visit

As this page grows I want to reintroduce myself!

My name is Jacey,
I started this dream job when I was only 14yrs old, I started dog walking to make extra cash. When I adopted a Weimaraner from the humane society, after going with my grandparents to find my grandma a new โ€lap dog.โ€ I walked out with a whole 100lbs of 2.5yr old ornery โ€œlap dogโ€ named Ronnie. Ronnie was the key to this door, after extensive training and bonding I knew undesirable, wild dogs were my passion. Through high school and college I built my experience with volunteering/rescue and training. I studied Human services of psychology in college, a desire to provide PTSD veterans with service dogs had become a dream. I worked in a psychiatric facility for years working with children and seeing the healing that the equestrian program brought (I still cry to this day remembering all the fun and growth I saw those kids have there).
I built this business on the backbone of bringing a service that would help others in any situation. I went full time as of January and have faced a lot of mountains, absolute heartbreak, failure and lose and learning how to run a business is another beast, so thank you all who have stuck by me as Iโ€™m building and re building this dream. While we are ending 2023 with a fresh slate and ample room for clientele to get their booking, Iโ€™m hoping 2024 brings in abundance, security and the dream that Iโ€™ll be able to continue this passion. I hope one day I can tell Ronnie how much of an impact he made in not only in my life but for others. ๐Ÿ’•โœจโœŒ๐Ÿผ

NEW RESPIRATORY ILLNESS GOING AROUND IN DOGS

As we head into the holiday season! please pay extra attention to your pups behavior over the next few weeks. There is a very dangerous and fatal illness going around in dogs that is easily transmitted through contact with other dogs. If your dog goes to the dog park/daycare/boarding facilities LOOK FOR A CONSISTENT COUGH AND LETHARGY! This virus is killing dogs within two days, if your dog experiences these symptoms BRING THEM TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY. Do not bring your dog around other dogs if they are showing symptoms. It can be transmitted as easily as meeting another dog on a walk. There are some great articles on google about it and i would be happy to link them to anyone who is interested. As we go into the holiday season, watch your dogs for signs of illness and if possible, keep them home and away from dogs outside the home.
All of Running Paws services are client based which highly reduces the likelihood of your pup catching this newer virus while youโ€™re out of town, please reach out if youโ€™re needing a sitter for your pets this holdish season!
