Sometimes when grieving a loss, whether a loved one or a relationship or someone we admire, the pain can feel too overwhelming. It may feel like the easier thing to do is to stuff your feelings and just not deal with it. We do that by overworking, distracting ourselves, etc. But unfortunately, this actually halts our healing process.
It's ok to allow yourself to feel, even if just in small doses. We must acknowledge our hurts and pains, as a part of the human life experience, and move through it towards healing. Journey well today!
🗣So exciting for the launch of the new season of Crazy Counselors Podcast with myself and ‼️It’s live!!! Go check us out! Follow, share, etc🤗🤗🤗
The importance of knowing your origin story, trauma and starting your healing journey.
“But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.” (Jonah 1:3)
📌Jonah preferred death rather than risking the pain and potential embarrassment of doing what God told him to do.
📌He made the whole process about him.
📌Sometimes the process is about obedience.
📌And oftentimes God protects us when we are too foolish to do the right thing (or purpose thing).
📌Jonah had to "push through the pain" of embarrassment to get to his purpose as a Prophet.
📌His pain was so deep he wanted to die (multiple times). But even in the belly of the great fish, when he wanted to die, he was receiving heart healing (time with God).
📌His separation from people was leading to restoration of his purpose.
Sometimes when we pray for things and God begins to answer those prayers, it still hurts because although you want the answered prayer you have grown accustomed to the comforts of the pain. It's familiar, predictable, and (in a toxic way) safe. But God wants more and so do you! Therefore, you have to resist the urge to go back to what's comfortable. Push through the pain, to get to purpose.
What things in your life are causing pain?
What prayers is the Lord answering that feel painful in the process?
What purpose or bigger picture is on the other side of this uncomfortable moment in your life?

“I acknowledge…”
“I choose…”
Try utilizing these quick prompts to help you begin to process tough emotions, rather than stuffing (avoiding) them.
1.) Start by acknowledging the emotion and who/what caused it (label/identify). Emotion examples include: angry, frustration, regret, disappointment, etc.
2.)Then choose how you will move forward (ex: with gratitude, acceptance, forgiveness, etc).
You can write this out (journal), video or audio record yourself, or just simply say it out loud. The point is that it’s better out than in!
As always, reach out if you need additional help processing your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Journey well!
