Hello,
My name is Eric Small.
I'm a West Virginia native, and a nurse of more than 12 years.
I've recently taken on the role of Chairperson for the West Virginia Nurse Political Action Committee (WVN-PAC). The questionnaire speaks to the challenges and opportunities that nurses in West Virginia face each day. The information submitted will remain confidential within the WVN-PAC Endorsement Selection Committee.
We feel that it is critical for the health of current and future West Virginians that we maintain a robust, sustainable nursing workforce. There are many partners in this state working to accomplish that goal, but our legislators must be among them. The responses to this questionnaire will be used to identify key partners and endorsements the PAC will make this year.
I'm excited to see what work we might accomplish together supporting the needs of more than 35,000 nurses in our State.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Best wishes throughout this campaign season and good luck in November!
Eric Small MBA, MSN, RN

Meet the new Marshall School of Nursing Faculty - Professor Hutchison!
Professor Ashlee Hutchison is a new faculty member in the Marshall University College of Health Professions- School of Nursing. She graduated from Marshall University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and practiced twenty-four years at Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) in Huntington, WV. Most of her time at CHH was with maternity services on the Mother Baby unit and floating to sister units including antepartum and the Neonatal Therapeutic unit (NTU). Professor Hutchison joined Marshall University as an adjunct faculty member in 2020 to assist with the mother baby clinical rotations. Professor Hutchinson graduated from Marshall in 2022 with a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Administration. She then moved into an educator position at CHH in the Clinical Training and Development Department as Staff Development Instructor for Hoops Family Hospital and Maternity Services. She writes, "My time in the Education Department truly prepared me for my current position as full-time faculty at Marshall, teaching clinicals for NUR 222 Foundations of Professional Nursing II. I enjoy working with the sophomore students and truly look forward each week to guiding them through new experiences and academic adventures. I plan to continue my education at Marshall University in the DNP Program which is offered in the School of Nursing. I am married and have two adult children, both of whom either are or will be attending Marshall University. My mother, sister, nieces, and nephew all graduated from Marshall University as well. I guess you could say that we are a family that calls Marshall University “home”. I truly feel like I have come home to my alma mater and could not be more grateful for the opportunity to give back a small portion of what I was given educationally throughout the years. Go Herd!"
