THOUGHTS ON YOGA
• Why I practice: Yoga teaches me how to surrender, find acceptance, and be fully present in the moment. The practice helps maintain mental, physical, and spiritual health by revealing the tools I have within to face anything that arises in my life. Why I teach: I strongly believe the practice of yoga has the potential to serve many types of people in infinite ways. I find fulfillment in sharing the practice that has helped me find light in being.

॥ Late summer ॥
In Chinese medicine there are 5 seasons each associated with an element. Late summer belongs to the earth element. Earth is where we receive nourishment (food, feeling of stability, sense of connection/ feeling “Home”). Where we root to rise and blossom.
Late August is the time to ground oneself with the rhythms of routine to settle the nervous system. Discern how to delineate time among work,
social engagements, and personal wellbeing activities to help return to your core and re-establish inner stability after the extroverted flare of summer.
For me that looks like meditation every morning, nature walks, physically writing intentions/ to do lists, meal prep and making it a priority to take Yoga a minimum of 3x a week. It’s trusting my intuition, not over committing and respecting my energy.
Our body is inherently connected to the bigger body. Waking up to the patterns can help create harmony with the flow. .

When the world is so loud I can’t pick my voice out of the crowd,

And the strain of the eyes such that direction blurs -

I take refuge where beige and blue merge.
Where sounds are soft -
just the whistle of the wind in the wheat, soil crunching under the feet.
Sometimes a sit, a sigh . .
shed a tear or two- not sourced of sadness, although there is that too- but more from being so full.
It feels good to empty out, like all of a sudden there is an open field of space within to rest.

Lots of talk about filling the cup-
For me it is in the emptying that I can return a container to share untainted, open space. .
