We had an incredible opportunity on our Morocco trip to spend the morning at with a photographer compliments of - the vivid colors and scenery made for a stunning photo back drop. Check out some of my favorite shots! 🇲🇦

If you asked the children which activity in Morocco was their favorite … our sunset camel ride made the top of several lists. The views were gorgeous and although the camels were a tad ornery, we still had an incredible experience as this was a first time camel ride for everyone in our group!

When staying in Marrakech you must experience Jemaa el-Fna at least once. The kids were not a huge fan of the experience - too many snakes and monkeys for their preference but it was definitely an interesting place! Greyson did find one monkey with a jersey on for his favorite soccer player so that was a plus for him! 🇲🇦

Some of THE most fun I’ve had shopping on a trip! Exploring the souks in Marrakech is unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced. Thank goodness for our amazing guide with or I think we would have gotten hopelessly lost - but so many fun shops to explore! From leather goods, lamps, food, scarfs (we learned the proper way to tie a scarf for any future Saharan Desert adventures!), and so much more! Definitely make sure you plan some spending money into your budget for this stop - but the haggling will keep you on your toes.

First day exploring in Marrakech we saw the Saadian tombs inside the royal kasbah district of the city and Bahia Palace. The most interesting fact of the day for the kids was hearing that this was the burial location for a real life Sultan (cue all references for Aladdin and Princess Jasmine here) - beautiful architecture and design though. The detailed plaster work was incredible!

Our welcome to Morocco 🇲🇦 kicked off with a delightful stay at in ! We were warmly welcomed with mint tea, a tour of the riad and a delicious lunch. The spacious rooms, instagrammable pool and staff hospitality made this stay an unforgettable experience and one I would most highly recommend 💙

One more throw back… our final stop on our September cruise. You may recognize the iconic whitewashed buildings perched on the cliffs overlooking the stunning azure waters of the Aegean Sea. We had a whirlwind visit with a wine tasting and a quick exploration of the villages of Fira and Oia, known for their narrow winding streets, boutique shops, and breathtaking views. This stop was too short for us to enjoy some delicious Greek cuisine, but if you are headed there soon I’m happy to recommend some of my favorites from a previous visit ! 🇬🇷

The island nation of was such a delight to visit! We enjoyed every part of our time here - after our breakfast on the farm, we ventured on to a local winery for a tasting and then into town to explore the shops. Every street was adorable! 🥰

Throw back to the *cutest* part of our September trip - we got to visit a local farm on Cyprus to learn how fresh goat’s milk cheese is made and enjoy some yummy breakfast. In the process we got to meet the farm animals and this lamb decided that Daniel was just her favorite human ever and wanted to go home with him 🩵

“Oh little town of Bethlehem…”

While a bit hard to picture this as the Biblical town of Bethlehem, with the souvenir shops and ornate decor of the orthodox tradition, we did have the once in a lifetime experience of visiting Bethlehem in West Bank, Palestine.

The church pictured here (and basement area) is built at the site that is believed to be the birthplace of Christ ✝️

Reflecting on an unforgettable day at the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane. Surrounded by the ancient olives trees, each step felt like a journey through the pages of the Bible. Grateful for this profound experience. 🌿

I would have loved to have more time to wander and explore in all the shop areas throughout Jerusalem - it definitely brought to mind my childhood memories of the walk through Bethlehem re-enactments

Reflecting back on how many incredible experiences we had the opportunity for during this last trip - visiting Jerusalem was one of those experiences that is almost hard to process in the midst of navigating the crowded streets (and making sure to stay on schedule so we made it back to our ship). However, in reflecting back and looking through pictures, here are just a few snapshots to highlight the significance of the places we visited - the Western Wall of the temple (or the wailing wall), the Zion Gate, via Dolorosa, the Chapel of Golgotha and walking through Jaffa Gate. So many sites that we have heard about over the years through Biblical studies and history lessons, and were able to make a tangible connection with through this trip.

For our second full day in Israel we spent our time visiting Old Town Jerusalem and Bethlehem - so much history in such a small space - hard to process and take it all in just with one day! 🇮🇱

The world’s most ancient spa, with 34% salinity, it is renown for health and healing properties. It is surrounded by the Negev Desert and bordered by Jordan to the east Palestine’s West Bank and Israel to the west. It’s shores are are notably the lowest point on the surface of the earth. It is very difficult to actually “swim” in the Dead Sea and you’ll find it best to just float and relax (which is just fine with me!) 🇮🇱

As referenced in our 10/11 post - please know that we do not encourage travel to Israel at this time and our thoughts and prayers are with the Israeli people as they continue to experience heartbreak and loss 🇮🇱

On our first day in Israel we headed up to the ancient fortress of Masada in southern Israel. At the eastern edge of the Judean Desert, overlooking the Dead Sea, Masada was originally build by Herod the Great and was later an important site in the first Jewish-Roman war.

In addition to the incredible history and archeological facts shared by our guide with Guided Tours Israel - the views overlooking the Dead Sea were stunning 🇮🇱

Sunrise in Ashdod, Israel 🇮🇱

The next few sets of pictures I have from our trip are shared with a more somber attitude than I had imagined they would be - however, our time in Israel was such a meaningful part of our trip, I thought it was important to still share them.

We are so thankful for the time we did have to spend in Israel and do not take it lightly that others remain in dangerous situations. Know that we do not encourage travel to Israel at this time and our thoughts and prayers are with the Israeli people as they continue to experience heartbreak and loss 🇮🇱

When in the Mediterranean… why not just stop off in Patmos for dinner ? We only had the evening to spend here, so walked around a bit and stumbled across a delicious, family run restaurant to enjoy a tapas style dinner - if you are ever looking for dinner in Patmos check out !

Part 2 of our time in Turkey 🇹🇷 was spent in the port town of Kusadasi where our ship docked. The end of our tour was a Turkish carpet demonstration - from the extracting of the silk from silk worm cocoons to the hand weaving of intricate patterns - It brings a new understanding to why authentic Turkish rugs are so expensive - Beautiful!

Photos from Blue Pineapple Travel by Autumn's post 08/10/2023

First port stop on our was Kusadasi, Turkey 🇹🇷 - our excursion at this port took us to explore the ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus. The oldest Greek settlement on the Aegean Sea you can find the impressive structure of the Library of Celcus and an incredible 25,000 seat amphitheater where Paul preached in Acts 19 and is still used for public concerts and events in modern day Turkey - the kids enjoyed finding cats to pose in their photos and grabbing some shade under a pomegranate tree 😂

The ancient city of Athens Greece 🇬🇷! We were excited to share a quick glimpse of this city with our family after my husband and I had been here previously several years ago. We revisited a favorite restaurant and enjoyed some Freddo Espressos during our short time ! ☕️ Clearly I was a bit sleep deprived as I only had a handful of decent pictures - but check back as I have dozens more to share from our weeklong cruise through Greece 🇬🇷, Cyprus 🇨🇾 , Turkey 🇹🇷 and Israel 🇮🇱
