⚠️If you're looking for a sign that it's time for a vacation - here it is.

I know it might feel easier to just NOT take a vacation...

But fight against that feeling!

Because continuing to NOT step away from your normal work-life routine will only bury you deeper in the hole.

And make it harder to come back.

I'm here to inspire you to make travel a consistent part of your life.

One of my low-cost, HIGH-VALUE vacation planning services that I simply don't talk about enough: Vacation Blueprint Design

Especially for destinations like Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South America, hopping around to multiple cities or countries during one trip to make the most of your time is all-too-tempting...yet highly complicated.

But the thing about multi-leg trips is that if you just barrel ahead with the bookings without a high-level outline for your vacation, you could make some costly mistakes (in terms of money or time).

Like...booking a place to stay that is actually 1.5 hour away from a must-visit activity.

Or not realizing the travel time via train between two cities would eat up an entire vacation day.

Would love to help you get started planning that multi-leg vacation.

Asking other people for advice about where to go on vacation or what to do is a RESEARCH step.

Treating it as THE ANSWER (without checking in with YOURSELF) is usually not the answer to your dream vacation.

Putting ALL of the power of our experience in someone else’s hands (i.e. the airline, tour guide, etc.) is a gamble, considering there are a lot of details that can go less-than-perfectly.

We are the driver and can decide whether to let certain things ruin our trip or whether to turn it into a beautiful or hilarious adventure.

Let’s bring vacation into the work-life balance club, and instead of only focusing on balance between our careers and lives – realize that stepping away from both is a really important thing to plan for consistently.

I might have the cure to your biggest vacation planning woes 🔥

A podcast rec for you if you're a woman balancing career with family, life, and all of the things who also wants to travel the world...

Are you already a listener? Say hello below and tell me where you're from! 👋

I get asked a lot why I chose the name Wild Hair Travels for my brand.

Short answer: it’s a phrase that I learned from my fun-loving, enneagram 7, southern Dad, and my friends and I used the phrase a lot in our early 20’s to fuel some FUN times, including an infamous trip to Ireland where we sealed the friendship for life.

Also - I usually have literal wild hair when I’m traveling. 💁‍♀️

But deeper than that: the phrase just has that go-for-it-even-though-your-brain-tells-you-not-to feeling behind it.

So when I say “listen to your wild hair and GO” - I am essentially saying to you - “quit letting the logical things hold you back and GO if you want to go”.

So what destination or travel adventure has been nagging at you?

Acknowledge the logical things holding you back from taking that trip.

But then decide to go anyway because you want to.

And because you can work through whatever those other things are that have been keeping you from that experience.

So your challenge this year is to listen to your wild hair and go - and plan that trip.

Let this be your manifesto for the new year - with your travel adventures - and maybe for the other areas of your life too.

I have NEVER regretted following my wild hair - aka my intuition - and I promise you won’t either.

The 3 most helpful questions you can ask yourself before you start planning.

These questions will help you check in with yourself and see the VISION for the vacation.

Which is a critical step in the process - because your vision will guide the rest of the planning process!

What I see so many people do instead is simply rely on what OTHER PEOPLE say their experience should be like.

By asking their random Facebook friends for where they should go and what they should do.

Or just scrolling on Instagram and finding beautiful places and not know anything else about the experience.

THAT^^ is a method that could cause you to end up with a vacation that isn't at all suited to you.

So look INWARDS before you do any planning, and ask these 3 Qs!

What is it like to have me as your right hand gal to plan your vacation?

I’ve got all of the deets on episode 095 of the podcast about what the Wild Hair approach to vacation planning is like -

p.s. there's currently only a couple of spaces left on my calendar for 2023 summer vacations 😲, so if you've been thinking about getting my support, don't put it off!

There was a time when vacation planning felt fun.

But nowadays the to-do list just to get the vacation planned tends to sabotage that pre-trip giddiness!

Even though there's no way around the research and timelining and mapping, there is one thing you can do to make the process fun again.

Give yourself enough time to plan the vacation. 🤷‍♀️

When you do this, you can infuse fun milestones into the process along the way!

(Like I do with my Wild Hair Approach to vacation planning... 😉)

There is just SOMETHING about a girls trip that is so life-giving and just different than a family trip.

They are full of belly laughs and wine and shenanigans and long quality conversation where you can finally spill your secrets and dreams to another person who will genuinely listen.

So I gotta know - is it time for a girls trip? 👇 Who's your main travel gal pal?

I've missed you!! 💙

I've been quiet on social for the past few months, but hopefully you've been keeping up over on the podcast!

It's been a BUSY YEAR at Wild Hair Travels, but I have been loving all of the vacations I've been getting to plan for my clients 🥰

(I had one client who started planning with me in early March 2020 and finally got to go last month! 😭)

I've got several clients headed on vacation soon, and several 2023 vacations that I'm getting ready to start - seriously so obsessed!

In other news, baby boy has turned ONE and is now RUNNING and we cant keep up. 😅

Oh and are headed to Montana in a few weeks - eeek!

What's new with you?! 👇 Say hi!

My favorite part of our trip to St. Croix was the hike to the Analy Bay Tide Pools.

The hike down wasn't the worst we've done, but it wasn't easy.

Once we made it down to the coast, we had to climb around some jagged and somewhat slippery rocks with waves crashing on them.

A little sketchy...but doable. Just enough adventure without the danger lol.

But because the reward was a dip in these tide pools which has the PERFECT water temperature and even better views.

After we spent some time here, we sat on the rocky beach and enjoyed some post hike beers in almost total seclusion.

And then on the hike back we found a wormhole and shaved off about a half of a mile!! Talk about an amazing surprise lol. But we are still baffled by how we did this. (Maybe the post-hike beers???)

Questions about a vacation to St. Croix? Feel free to DM me!

Holy crap, I’ve missed you this past month!

I wish I could say that I did one of those intentional social media detoxes lol 😬, but nah - I’ve just been busy AF and kinda all over the place.

Lots of fun events: Vacation with hubby. BFF’s wedding. Texas Country concert + dancing.

Lots of family time: Learning how to adjust to having a crawler in the house.😳 Visiting family. Spending every spare moment to chill on the back patio in the sun.

LOTS of vacation planning for clients 🤩 and of course, podcasting on the Podcast.

The Travel Style series 2.0 has been rocking the HWTM podcast this entire month ( have you been tuned in? ).

The last episode in the series drops tomorrow.

What’s new in your world? Are you feeling chill or all over the place atm?

Here's one for my badass landscape + pretty scenery travelers. Which would you choose?

My pick right now would be A!

I get that you want to go ahead and book a flight and hotel as quickly as possible so that the vacation is “official”.

I mean - a flight and a hotel is the means to actually getting you on the vacation.

And I know that there’s definitely always fear with booking enough time ahead of the trip.

Or a fear of there not being any lodging availability.

Or getting expensive or s**tty flights if you don’t book as soon as possible.

And I know we feel better once we have that booking.

Because we can cross it off our list and sigh knowing that the vacation is “official”.

But where we’ve gone astray is starting with the products BEFORE asking ourselves what it is we want from our vacation.

This^^^ is intentional vacation planning.

Where we take 5 minutes to decide how we want our vacation to be.

Instead of treating our vacation like a product purchase.

And if this seems like an unnecessary step to you, doing this makes vacation planning SO much easier!

Because you have data to use as a filter for each of the products you find to help you see if it's the right fit.

Give it a try.

My husband and I are leaving today to go to the US Virgin Islands - just the 2 of us.

Yes, we have an infant. And he is staying at home.

One of the grandmas is keeping him this time.

And we know we’re going to miss him BAD.

Along with all of our furbabies, too.

But we are both equally looking forward to this time together so so much.

Things I'm especially looking forward to:

Passing out HARD to the sound of the ocean waves 😂

Leisurely mornings on our patio with tea + breakfast

Quality time with my husband and feeling like us again

Adventuring on the island together.

Do you ever sit down and list out what you're looking forward to with your next vacation before you go?

From choosing when to take off from work for a vacation to preparing yourself (and the masses) for your absence, there is a lot to talk about when it comes to taking off from work for a vacation.

If you find yourself hesistant to turn in that vacation request form, or maybe it's been way too long since you've actually taken off for a vacation, these are some good episodes on the podcast to get you headed in the right direction!

Traveling (especially internationally) is hard and scary and annoying and risky and kind of a pain in the ass right now.

But before you throw up your hands and concede, try to look at each of your concerns in a neutral light and see if there is a solution.

Because plenty of people are traveling internationally right now.

There have been plenty of people who’ve gone before you.

So you can, too.

You can work through those worries and see how possible it is.

And everything is probably going to work out just fine.

And you’ll be able to breathe a huuuge sigh of relief and feel that giddiness once you step off the plane and breathe in the air of that new place you’ve just been transplanted to.

How exciting is that?!!

09/01/2022

As you’re diving into this new year, you might be thinking about what you want to accomplish this year.

But instead of focusing on the “hustle” mindset to help you achieve those goals, I’m chatting with you about a simple mindset shift that will make working towards your goals easier and just more fun.

And hint, it has to do with vacations. Obvs. 😆

Have a listen on your fave podcast player!

I can tell a LOT about your travel style by your answer to this question - tell me, ABCD?

02/01/2022

These past couple of weeks have been amazing - I had a ton of quality time with family, got to experience the magic of the holiday season with a child, and really got a chance to REST.

So I haven't sat down and made those goals yet, but first step for me is always a reflection.

⭐So here are some of my highlights of my 2021:

Taking an vacation for our babymoon.

Welcoming the most perfect baby boy into our family.

Being fully booked with clients after the return from my maternity leave - and beyond!

Receiving a massive lump sum amount of money in the most unexpected way.

Adopting and loving on a stray cat, so that our house becomes official "zoo status"!!

DOUBLING++ my goal for downloads of the podcast.

Making peace with the timing of our custom homebuild, and also making some critical progress!

Embracing a year full of EASE in all areas of my life and work (yes, even with an infant!)

When hubby and I rang in 2022, I felt that fire-in-my-belly feeling that this year has so many exciting things to come.

And same for you.

I KNOW this year is going to be an amazing year for you...full of adventure. 😉

Thank you so much for the support and love and following along!

'Tis the season for new year planning, which is usually centered on work and life.

Learning a new skill.

Setting the monetary goals.

Forming a healthier habit.

But what about your vacations?

What about that tugging desire that you have to travel more?

If I’ve learned anything over the past 12 years or so about how to travel consistently - it’s that just choosing some dates is hella motivating for getting the trip planned and then being able to go.

Get out your calendar for this episode of the podcast, because we are blocking out time for the vacation and to actually plan the thing.
