World Autism Acceptance Week

Join us this week to celebrate World Autism Acceptance Week. Last year we launched our Thinking Differently: Autistic and ADHD Women and Girls campaign to raise awareness of autism and ADHD in women and girls.

This campaign is an opportunity to understand one another better and to celebrate our differences. The campaign gives us a chance to ensure all women are welcomed into the WI and to think about what we can do as individuals and within our WIs to ensure new and existing members with autism and ADHD feel understood, accepted and welcome.

You can get involved by:

โ€ข Checking out our campaign action pack on My WI to learn more about autism: thewi.org.uk/thinking-differently
โ€ข Taking the pledge as a WI: we have a guidance document on My WI you can use to help your WI become more inclusive for autistic women
โ€ข Watch the autism webinar on My WI

Well done ladies ๐Ÿ˜€

Earlier this week the Councilโ€™s Countryside and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Team worked in partnership with the Anglesey Federation Womenโ€™s Institute (AFWI).

They provided litter pickers, bags and bag hoops for a beach clean at Rhosneigr.

The open dune systems stretching from Cymyran to Aber Menai represent an internationally important habitat within the AONB for their specialised species adapted to nutrient poor conditions. Twelve volunteers battled stormy conditions to help remove ten bags of plastic pollution from the sand dunes.

Llaneilian WI

Llaneilian Women's Institute was founded in October 1952 and we are fortunate to own our own hall. The land was bequeathed to our WI in the early 1960โ€™s by a former member and the hall was largely built by membersโ€™ husbands. The hall has been extensively upgraded since that time and in addition to our normal monthly meetings we use it for many of the various activities that are of interest to WI members and visitors. We encourage members to address local, national and international issues by inviting specialist speakers to our meetings. We meet on the second Monday of the month at 2pm, visitors are very welcome to join us at this active and friendly WI.
