When people ask what I do I. The “off season”
It never ends ⛄️
So - just like that - we are done.. for those that came to ski - thank you, We hope you had plenty of good "up's" and fun filled downs.
Every season has it's challenges and moment's... We look forward to seeing you all next winter. La Nina in full force it sounds like.
To all the staff and "behind the scene's " folks - thank you fo all you do - it all helps keep the ski machine moving forward.
See you on the patio's, beaches, crags, and backyards over the summer.
Happy Easter and cheers from K3
That time of winter. ⛄️
There shall be no more talk of “low tide”. 50 cms in a day and a bit.
Merry Christmas 🎄 from K3.
Good last Monday before Christmas morning,
Quick update from K3 way.
The Gorge is now snowed in from 3K up - we will plow as big a parking spot as we can, but your help in parking properly, and closely, will go along ways towards making this work well.
Radios are REQUIRED 24/7 for the winter (even for the 3k).
Our Staff training starts today and this week, so there will be an increased amount of K3 folks roaming around, digging pits, doing rescue scenarios and the like.
This week is also the last of the construction (the last minute details) so there will be lots of traffic to and from the Lodges for a couple more days.
Once construction is 100% done, so later on this week, the East Gorge will NOT be plowed to 15K. We will ONLY be plowing to our 12K staging.
Once training/details are done this week - Santa comes - then our season kicks off. December is always a busy month ;)
We are also expecting one last top -up delivery of propane this week - so expect to see those guys out on the hill too - and give them plenty of room and respect - after all they are driving a giant propane tank - even yet another reason to need a radio and know how to both listen and use it, and its limitations.
There are several layers in this years (thin) snowpack - as I am sure most of you are aware by now. (Lots for the snow scientist types folks to explore) Our friends over at Avalanche.ca would love your MIN reports and observations.
If you do carpool from Lybarger road - please do not park by the mailboxes or in front of the local's driveways - be respectful in where you park.
Avoid the temptation to park on Lybarger and take your sled up the plowed 3K of road - it is both dangerous and illegal , and remember Santa is going over his list this week , and 100% for sure he will not bring any snow (or new ski gear) if he sees you or your friends sledding up a plowed road!
It gets dark super early these days - so factor that into your plans - and make sure you have fresh batteries in that headlamp.
The skiing is pretty good for how thin and low tide it is - but let's hope we get back to "normal" (whatever that is) snowfall and snowpack. Every year is different!
Merry Christmas - and cheers from K3
