Hello Galileo Families! We have just started our 4th Quater and soon we will begin the Statewide Colorado Measures of Academic Success or CMAS testing. CMAS is the state’s indicator of academic preparedness for language arts, math, science and social studies. It’s aligned to the state’s rigorous academic standards and designed to gauge how well students are mastering the standards and are prepared for their next grade. The results provide a picture of student performance to schools, districts, teachers, parents, and the community. Results show how students are progressing academically, which is a key component to ensuring students are on track to graduate prepared for college and career. February is national Love the Bus month! All month long, we want to show our transportation services team how much they are loved and appreciated for getting so many D11 students to and from school safely. These vital employees are valuable assets all year, but this month we can really show them the love! Since 2007, the American School Bus Council has celebrated the influence on learning our transportation staff have through stories. Thanks to your partnership, D11's preliminary enrollment numbers are rising. We are beating our projected enrollments at many of our schools, and most of our elementary schools have beaten last year's October Count number. For all of our 22,046 students, this means proper funding for our great programs and amazing staff, so our students get the best education. D11’s choice enrollment window is open now through Feb. 15, so please tell your friends, neighbors, and anyone who is looking for a great school to enroll today by visiting D11.org/enrollment.

October is a month full of celebrations! We celebrate our school principal during National Principals Month. Be sure to thank them for all they do for our school! We also celebrate Arts Month in October, so be on the lookout for a variety of activities that showcase the arts. National Custodian Day is October 2 this year, and we are sending a huge shoutout to our building manager, technicians, and everyone who keeps our school clean and maintained. On October 5, we celebrate World Teacher Day, so be sure to send a message to your teachers letting them know how much you appreciate them. National Coaches Day is October 6, and Education Support Professionals Week is October 17-21. On October 12, it’s Walk to School Day so take the opportunity to get some fresh air and walk to school, or walk part of the way to school that day. Finally, October 10-14 is National School Lunch Week, where we share our gratitude for our Food and Nutrition Services team for providing nutritious meals every school day. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who is in each of these critically important roles. YOU are what makes a difference in the lives of our students every day!
