The Board of Logan County Commissioners donated an autographed guitar to the Logan County Cattlewomen this morning for the organization’s fundraising event next spring. Each year, the commissioners secure a guitar signed by the entertainers of the Logan County Fair and it is then donated to a non-profit organization for fundraising purposes. This year’s guitar features signatures of the 2023 Night Show talent, Josh Turner and Casey Donahew, with additional artwork and lettering by local artist, Naiah Giordano.
“The commissioners are very supportive of the Logan County Cattlewomen and their mission to promote the beef industry and our agricultural lifestyle through education,” said Commissioner Joe McBride, who has spearheaded this project since its inception in 2019. “We are happy to select the Logan County Cattlewomen as the recipient of the guitar this year to help them continue their efforts in our community.”

RED LION ROAD BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION TO START
Logan County is preparing to begin construction of Bridge LOG93-60.5-243 which is located on County Road (CR) 93, also known as Red Lion Road, and crosses the South Platte River. It is one of three bridges that span the South Platte River flood plain on CR 93 which is an important link for Northeast Colorado as it connects I-76 to State Highway 138 east of Crook, Colorado. The bridge crossing serves the local agricultural communities as well as recreational access to the Colorado State Parks and Wildlife Red Lion Wildlife Area and the Jumbo Reservoir.
The previous bridge was damaged from flood waters in 2015 and was removed due to safety issues. A temporary roadway was constructed and has been in place and used by the traveling public since then and will remain in place while the new bridge is being constructed. The old 400 ft timber bridge will be replaced with a 250 ft concrete structure including an 8 ft concrete culvert with roadway improvements leading up to the new bridge which was designed by Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH) Inc. from Denver. Logan County secured federal funding over the past several years which will fund 80% of the overall construction of $4.25 million which was awarded to the low bidder Lobato Construction, LLC, from Brighton.
The County anticipates this work to begin as early as October 23, 2023, with construction efforts planned to last through March of 2024. There will be local construction personnel from SEH, Inc and Lobato Construction, LLC onsite during construction should anyone have questions or need additional information.
Congratulations to those Logan County employees recently recognized for their years of service. Your hard work is greatly appreciated!
