Have another update :) Teeny tiny, but happy to show the slow behind-the-scenes of what I've been up to and doing. Hopefully will have a proper photo one up soon, but we shall see. Trying not to rush, and take things one step at a time.

Back to Myself I've been settling in a tad more. I've been learning a lot, taking more chances within the work I want to do. I've been thinking about my home in Japan a lot...

New video is up :) Not necessarily the type I wanted to make, but an update nonetheless. I'm still in Mexico, it's still wonderful, it's still beautiful, and finally on the mend.

Recently, it's been a lot of bouncing around, and not enough documenting. Because of all the rushing, I realized a lot of things were lost. I couldn't bring to memory the conversations had that day, I couldn't remember the smells I learned and loved, and visually things were murky as well. As a photographer memory and holding these things to oneself is so important.

Because of this, I've started documenting a bit. Hopefully I will start to find a stride and make things more beautiful, but for now, here we go. Thank you so much, dear friends, and enjoy:)

The Fearful Side - REYLIA SLABY the fearful side, trying to be an artist in this world

Hi everyone, today I want to announce a project that I want everyone to take part in along with me and my twin sister, Johnna.

I’ve been in Tokyo for the past few weeks, but during my time here I haven’t been in the mood to shoot purely for art’s sake. Sometimes the hustle and bustle gets in the way, and it can be a bit hard to focus on taking pictures of what I love.

Inspired by my twin sister Johnna, I’m going to start a personal challenge called “14 days of Beauty”, where for 14 days I will be intentionally looking for pockets of beauty in my daily life, documenting, and writing about it.

I’d love for you to join me along in the challenge, and for those on the Patreon, I will be making a small booklet with everyone’s work and writing. If you’d like to be included in the booklet, please forward what you capture and I will collect them all.

While I will be making one booklet of the work for those that subscribe to the Patreon, even if you’re not part of the platform, you can join this challenge. In fact, I’d love for you to incorporate this into your life for a little bit as well.

Please try it along with me and share what you make during these 14 days. It can be on your phone or camera, whatever way you like to create.
I’m going to start on the 15th of April and will finish at the end of the month on the 29th of April. You can start at any point after the 15th and join in the middle or even at the end. One day of beauty is better than none.

THE CHALLENGE:
To intentionally find or create one thing that you deem as beautiful or interesting in your daily life, photograph/document it, and then write a sentence to go along with what you found.

Anyone is free to join on and off this platform, as well as share their progress with me by tagging the challenge , tagging me .slaby, or just sharing privately via email: [email protected]

While each student will receive similar assignments, the nature of the class will be catered to your own level and your curiosities, as well as the area you are most hungry to grow. “Daydream”
『白昼夢』

These past few days things have been pretty hectic, and I find myself without too much time for myself. But every once in a while, a small pocket of time comes up, and then it is finally when I have the time to imagine, sketch, and daydream. It is blissful. A huge thank you to everyone that came along for the ride, despite this summer being so incredibly hot.

Two months ago, I decided to make a big switch to film photography. I’m still so so new to it and learning things every day, it’s been such a beautiful and rewarding experience, in ways that I didn’t expect at all.
