Y’all made my night as well!
Posted • Thursday night out was our last night out for our girls trip. We got to meet this great musician who put up with a couple of crazies from Chicago. Thanks for the memories
Back from a week on the icy seas in Alaska and ready to rock!
I have just a single public show this month on 9/16 at from 7-10. Come by or check back here for other events/posted videos. Now off to start laying down some original demos …
I can’t actually explain technically about how I’m singing or what I’m doing. It’s all just a feel and vibe. Sometimes people will talk to me about something I did and I just smile and give them a wide-eyed, “yeah, thanks!“ … But I don’t have any idea what they’re talking about. This is the case with this. Really early morning event as a trio in Sugarland for and a guy was super complementary afterwards talking about something I was doing on this song vocally. I didn’t really have any idea what he was talking about. Went back and watched the clip as I had my phone out and man, I’m feeling something! This is also the morning after a late night wedding, so early shows are just running on coffee and adrenaline. Shout out to Damon & Gavin holding it town with me!
RIP Taylor.
This hurts.
always represented the best of rock ‘n’ roll to me. It hit hard and they could groove on anything but they were goofy, cool, and first ballot “If I could hang out with anyone it would be ____” people. Dave having that demeanor post the tragedy of Kurt was just a beautiful thing to see. Taylor was the pairing to that (tbh, the blonde-haired version of that) … killer drummer, performer, and ready and willing to step in as front-man (HE HELD THE SHOW WHEN DAVE BROKE HIS LEG!). Drum lines that were straight up CATCHY.
I used to come home from classes in college and shed on “My Hero” on the drum set that was set up in our garage. (I’ve since watched drum tutorials … I wasn’t even close …) He was the greatest rock drummer/performed of my generation.
My sympathies to Alison and the family, Dave, Pat, Chris, Nate, Rami and all the fans everywhere. It just sucks.
🇺🇦
We had an incredible wedding earlier this month where one side of the family was Ukrainian. When it booked, the coordinator sent me a note about this Ukrainian folk song called “Chervona Ruta” and asked if there was a way we could incorporate it because it would, “mean a lot to the family.” That right there is the magic phrase. Sure we could just DJ that version but it I was up to the work of trying to learn the words as best I could. It makes the work it takes to learn/arrange something super minimal because you have this amazing opportunity to do something special.
It went better than I could have imagined with a 3-piece horn section and everyone singing and dancing to our arranged version of it.
The past 48 hours I’ve had this song playing in my head nonstop. When I go to sleep and when I wake up. Just thinking about Ukraine.
I dedicate this to the man I saw say goodbye to his family on the video posted on ‘s Instagram. And generally to anyone who was peacefully living in Ukraine and whose lives have been upended by this horrible unjust thing. To those people I don’t know you but I love you. Apologies for the mispronunciations (I had practiced saying “Дякую” (thank you) and said it slightly incorrectly at the end).
Merry Christmas everyone … singing for you in English and in German at 3 AM on Christmas Eve :).
10/13/21 House of Blues second set
Cause we all need a little falsetto in our lives. “I’d rather be dry but at least I’m alive …”. Also didn’t anticipate this meaning when recorded, but my heart is with the people and friends of LA and those affected by the hurricane. Check out these groups for ways to give &

Cover of the John Mayer version of the Beyonce jam. Enjoy!
This is in the top 5 most commonly performed songs at ceremonies. It totally comes to life with cello. Enjoy!
And I’m back with the love songs series! Such a solid guitar lick and song. We don’t play this at ceremonies as much as “You Are the Best Thing” but it’s such an earnest love song. Enjoy!
The first of 15 love songs I’ve recorded as I’m now offering solo acoustic guitar/vocals for more couples having more intimate weddings during this time. I love this song and can’t tell you the number of times we’ve played it for a processional of some sort at a wedding. Written by Bob Dylan and made famous by Garth Brooks. I know the Adele version off the 19 album best. Enjoy!
