Having all the feels as I reflect on these photos but the most prominent one would be the overwhelming feeling of gratitude.
It’s been six years since I first took a chance on myself and showcased my work as a sustainable designer at (swipe to see)
In 2018 I had an idea and a desire to make change but had yet to finish my schooling and still had so much to learn & work through.
In these last 6 years I graduated fashion school with honours, put my design aspirations on hold due to the pandemic, lived abroad, got married, became a mother, battled chronic illness, and recently relaunched Gemine Design with more heart, clarity and drive than ever before.
When you see fashion- especially fast fashion- it’s so easy to dissociate from the PEOPLE behind the clothes. And as a founder & creative director of small Canadian sustainable fashion brand in its infancy it can be easy to not be seen at all.
The platform that and provide for Canadian designers to blossom — to give us a voice and share our work plays a huge and invaluable role in bringing Canadian Fashion to the forefront. I am so grateful to have had a chance to step onto the runway at Toronto Fashion week all these years later and share a piece of my heart with you all.

Hello everyone! It’s been a minute but I thought I would re-introduce myself as GEMINE has gone through some re-branding!
👋 I am Michelle the founder & creative director of .design
Outside of this small slow fashion brand I am a wife, mother, dog mom & lover of art, design, wellness, being out doors and travelling.
I am excited to finally be sharing the relaunch of this brand with you all. Thank you for following along this journey with me 🫶💫✨
Our Story
The Toronto based brand, Gemine Design was established in 2016 by Michelle Good. Gemine Design is a sustainable and contemporary line of accessories and apparel made from new and reused materials. Michelle is a self-taught artist and designer who is passionate about reclaiming the lost and forgotten. My inspiration as a designer comes from the story of an elderly couple who were asked by a reporter “How have you managed to stay together for 65 years?!” The women replied, “We were born in a time where if something were broken, we would fix it, not just throw it away.” This is a mindset that is becoming lost in our time and as a result I have fallen in love with the idea of giving new life to the broken and forsaken. Gemine Design understands that that clothing and accessories should be a form of self-expression, allowing women to express themselves confidently.
The bold, unique accessories and apparel, are available in seasonal collections, limited edition lines and one-of-a-kind pieces. The core of the collections are eco conscious, created by combining repurposed clothing/accessories with new materials. Gemine Design also works with clients to customize and personalize meaningful pieces. “I had a friend pass away in 2016, and was asked by her mother to create a new necklace from her daughters favourite necklace that had broken. From that experience I realized that there was incredible value in sentiment. Having the ability to take meaningful heirlooms and give them new life is incredibly rewarding.” Since it’s inception in 2016, Gemine Design has become a top 10 finalist in the Toronto Fashion Incubator's Fashion Your Future Program and has collaborated with Canadian designer Lesley Hampton by accessorizing her collections in several fashion shows including Vancouver and Toronto Women’s Fashion Weeks.
