Although rarer these days, for those who have an Open Fire; make sure you are using a fireguard and the fire is properly put out before leaving the room.πŸ”₯🧯

If you are using Electric Heaters; keep them away from curtains and do not use to dry clothes. Make sure you turn them off before bed.

And finally for Electric Blankets, do not use a hot water bottle in addition to the blanket. Unplug blankets before bed unless they have a built in thermostat and are safe for all-night use.

Did you know, when making an insurance claim for damage to your property, you can hire a loss assessor to represent you and manage the entire claims process?πŸ‘

Many people don't have the time to be organising visits by their insurance company, and then managing contractors to come and complete repair works.βœ…

Instead, they use Aspray to manage the entire process!πŸ‘πŸ»

Visit www.aspray.com and keep us in mind should you encounter damage by flood, fire, storm, impact or escape of water.🦺

How prepared is your home for the Winter months? 🌲

This is a reminder to create a list to check anything that needs to be repaired or seen to before the cold weather really sets in!
Checking your gutters is important as overflowing water can cause damage to your home.βœ”οΈ

Does your boiler need to be serviced?⁉️

Is your loft insulation in good condition?πŸ€”

And be sure to note any gaps around the doorframes of your home that could potentially allow water to seep in.

One of the first actions at the site of an escape of water peril is to control the climate. Bacteria and Fungi are all around us, living on all types of surfaces, and are in a dormant state. However, in an escape of water incident the moisture levels inside a property increases. This activates mould spores.

Controlling the climate firstly consists of removing surface water, saturated items and ensuring there is adequate ventilation in the property. Secondly, drying equipment is installed to reduce the effects of potential further damage. Dehumidifiers can bring moisture balance in the air back to a β€˜normal’ levelβœ…

16/11/2021

At Aspray, we are committed to significantly reducing our carbon footprint, particularly during our drying process during an escape of water claim. πŸ’§

Modern drying methods and those recommended by the BDMA consist of targeted drying, with less equipment required. βœ…

Some methods consist of deploying a polythene envelope on the surface of the affected area, sometimes known as β€˜tentingβ€™πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ

04/11/2021

After an escape of water, you may have mopped away the surface water and porous materials such as wood can appear to be dry.πŸ’¦

However, denser materials require much more thorough attention.πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ

By using industry standard drying techniques, as recommended by the BDMA, we can alleviate the risk of fungi appearing in hidden voids that may not be immediately visible.βœ…

19/10/2021

At Aspray, we use advanced drying equipment during the reinstatement process following an escape of water.πŸ’§

This ensures we eradicate all the moisture related to the initial peril, significantly reducing the chance of reappearing damage.πŸ™Œ

With an escape of water claim, it is especially important to not only pay attention to the leak source – but the spread of moisture throughout the propertyπŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ

Lindsay Tracy & Ben were all extremely efficient in arranging the home visit and the set up of the process.

Then on arriving they were very thorough in assessing the damage while commenting on their thoughts throughout. The prognosis was that our insurer had certainly offered a lower cash settlement than was justified which gave us confidence that there was a real opportunity to achieve an improved position.

They then kept us up to date throughout the negotiation process while dealing directly with our insurers. The results of which concluded with a very positive and favourable outcome

The improved settlement allowed us to fix and refit the damage to what was a leak in our bathroom and I don’t think we would have been able to achieve this without their help.

In short this was an amazing conclusion and my advice is that anyone considering using Aspray Central Manchester team should jump at the opportunity. Why would you see any reason not to?

Great work and we are delighted with the service, well done to all concerned and thank you.

Vandalism can take many forms. Insurance claims around vandalism are especially hard for second home owners to handle, if their second property is some way away.

Around the UK each year there are 80 million accidents. These accidents cause damage to the property and cause physical injury.
It is really important to recognise the hazards in your home, for you and your family.

Below are some simple steps to keeping your home safe:
β€’ Switch off unused appliances
β€’ Keep all electrical wirings and cords out of children’s reach regardless of whether they are plugged in or not
β€’ Keep all hot items like irons, hairdryers and hair straighteners out of sight and reach
β€’ Remember that regular sockets are regulated, and safe. Do not rely on socket covers, NHS stated in their alert that the use of plastic 13A electrical socket inserts could overcome the safety features designed into socket outlets
β€’ Consider having a proper RCD protection installed to prevent electrical fires and any dangerous and fatal electric shocks
β€’ Keep all liquids away from electrical items
β€’ When removing a plug, turn off the appliance first and don’t pull on the cord
β€’ Never leave your devices plugged in for too long or overnight while you sleep
β€’ Do not use fake chargers or any electrical equipment and wiring

We know it is tempting to slash the cost of all of your household bills at present, but please be aware that cancelling or downgrading your buildings insurance is not an option you should consider.
Your mortgage lender will almost certainly require this cover to be in place and being underinsured can have huge financial ramifications, even if you do not suffer a total loss to the property and just try to make a claim for something else. Look elsewhere to save money.

If you need any of our services, get in touch today.
