Children are natural learners. They just need the space to observe and explore!
What Babies Know About Physics and Foreign Languages Our kids don’t need to be taught in order to learn.
As I was preparing presentations for the MTA Summer Conference, I came across this article. It covers many aspects of the importance of physical activity for kids, especially during their school day, with reference to other articles and studies.
Exercise for children: Why physical fitness benefits the brain Don't let scheduling problems - or school policies - deny kids the right to be active. Exercise for children may stimulate brain growth, boost attention, and help kids learn.
While this is important info for kindergarten classrooms, the need for play and unstructured time at school is essential for ALL elementary school kids! It enhances learning for academics and life...and makes for much happier and more self-assured kids!
Kindergartners get little time to play. Why does it matter? Kindergarteners are under tremendous pressure – doing as many as 15 academic activities in a day, with a shorter recess time. What is the long-term impact?
"... that's what it's all about!" Well, this is much of what it's about... add in a few bits of love, play, joy, and good nutrition, and you really have something!
Why Kids Need to Move, Touch and Experience to Learn Students can better understand math and physics problems by acting them out. This type of embodied learning can help open up the mind to abstract concepts.
