I had the honour of opening the Chelmsford Museum art exhibition last week, there are some really great pieces of work and most of the for sale

Friends of Chelmsford Museum’s Biennial Open Art Exhibition was held on Friday evening with a large selection of different artwork displayed from local artists. World renowned, award winning Sculptor, Billie Bond, who lives locallay had selected the artwork and highly commended a selection of her favourites. The exhibition is on until February 2024 with many pictures being for sale - the Mayor has already purchased one and would recommend visiting to view the work of these talented artists.

This is so exciting. Some of you may recognise my Foreshore Foundlings in one of these images. This body of work responds to the tiny faces found along the Thames foreshore by mudlarkers. I shall also be giving a lecture about the exhibition in September at the National Maritime Museum Greenwich in September. More to follow soon

Shocked beyond words, a huge loss for all at Marchmont House

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hugo Burge who died suddenly at home on Wednesday 10th May. Hugo’s kindness, intelligence, curiosity and belief in a better world made him an inspiration to us all. He was a beloved son and a great friend. We will miss him terribly.

His family ask for privacy at this time. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced in due course.

Watch this fantastic film fellow artist and mudlarker Marie, created when I showed her around the quarry and introduced her to the ancestral Thames in Essex.
