A second great gig in Bristol on Saturday. Big thanks to The McTells and The Lovely Basement for making both nights so enjoyable.

Several people said to me it took them right back to being teenagers again :)

No more gigs planned, but a few albums and CDs still left. Really nice to hear all the lovely comments about the quality of the music - thanks everyone!

Big thanks to Wallace Dobbin for his kind words on Rock and Roll Radio from Louder than War:

"If you are a fan of the whole post-industrial sound of bands like Joy Division and the transitioning into C86 you're going to love this record, it really is fantastic".

Nice that The Five Year Plan get a few mentions in the new Sarah Records book written by Jane Duffus. We'd just about finished when Sarah started releasing records, but the book has a lot of backstory about Bristol and the gig scene in the late 80s.

Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's launch at Bristol Rough Trade - lots of familiar faces!

Don't forget our new LP is out now on vinyl and CD through Bandcamp - with one or two in Rough Trade as well.

The Five Year Plan: 1985 - album review 07/10/2023

Very perceptive review of our new LP, especially the description of our live gigs (even though he never saw us live).

In amongst all the nostalgic words though you might lose the fact that he thinks its really good!

New album: The Five Year Plan || 1985 - Add To Wantlist 06/09/2023

A very nice review of our new LP here from Add to Wantlist.

New album: The Five Year Plan || 1985 - Add To Wantlist Sometime in 2022, Tim Rippington (vocals, guitar) unearthed old demos and live recordings that indie pop outfit The Five Year Plan from Bristol (UK) had written in 1984 and 1985. The raw songs proved to have stood the test of time, and fellow band members Rob Pursey (bass, guitar, melodica), Dave Sq...

Evening all!

Our forthcoming LP has been selling very well, with two thirds of the vinyl records bought already. A big thank you to everyone who has ordered one so far - we really appreciate it.

This isn't the beginning of some long dragged-out reunion, god-forbid, but rather the much-delayed completion of a project that should have been finished by 1989 but wasn't, due to staffing and financial difficulties!!

Our Old Bad Habits collaborators assure us that the vinyl will sell out in quick time, so why not pick up your copy now - we can personally vouch for the quality of the goods guv'nr!

And while you're at it, make a date to come and see us, before we disappear back into the many places from which we have emerged:

Our new LP is available for pre-order from today!

These are the songs that we wrote and played back in 1985 but never got a chance to properly record. The changes in technology and the goodwill of all those involved has finally allowed us to do that.

The first batch of songs written by the band, these pre-date both the Brand New Car and Hit the Bottle singles - some we played live, some we recorded as demos, but none were ever given a proper release.

The album is available through Old Bad Habits label in Europe, who have pressed it on lovely blue vinyl. You can also order through our own Bandcamp page (see below), where a CD version is also available.

The albums are currently making their way from Greece to the UK, and will be on your doorstep on 4th September if you order now.

And to celebrate, we have organised two special gigs, in London and Bristol, at the end of the year. Details can be found elsewhere on this page. We hope to see some of you there!
