I had lots of questions about the sign I made to hide my teacher books in my so I wanted to share directions AND give away a pair of glasses!
1. I measured the width of the bookshelf and cut wood to fit.
2. I painted the entire sheet of wood black and used my Silhouette to cut the words from white vinyl.
3. My hubby cut the glasses from wood and I painted them to match my sign. Here is the link: https://etsy.me/2PmCKeo
4. I used scrap wood to make a frame.
5. The allow the sign to flip open, two hinges are attached to the top of the bookshelf.

My favorite addition to my this year! I like to put my “teacher books” on the top two shelves with hope that since they can’t reach them, they won’t take them BUT that hasn’t been working. Now the books are hidden and the kiddos this year have not even realized I have a secret hiding place. I will post more pictures next.
I am back with our Pals writing. Warning: This took a full week. We made a circle map about pals then organized our ideas into a tree map using can/are, added a topic sentence and after some editing wrote our final copy. The picture melts my heart ❤️
Our school-wide academic focus this year is writing so our hallway bulletin boards are going to be utilized to display students writing. This week our writing focuses on Pals because of our Journeys story and . We used some old Scholastic Weekly Readers since our new ones won’t arrive for a few more weeks. We took a picture of each kid holding a giant pencil (sorry I had to blur faces). ✏️ I will share our writing next!
Our principal read “The Book with No Pictures” yesterday to our first graders. You could hear them laughing all the way down the hall! 😂

I love Weekly Readers! We read this one today and it was AWESOME! The digital resources the are the best. This one had an author interview and the kids loved hearing Tedd's stories and advice. We fund these each year with Donors Choose.
