Khady graduated from BIDS in 2014 and has been working for the civil society platform ForumCiv (previously called Forum Syd) since 2017. Her responsibilities there have varied but the main tasks have been to assess applications and reports for various programs and to support partners with organizational capacity development. Today, Khady works with capacity development, where she tries to bridge the gap between theoretical/academic concepts and everyday practice for smaller and less experienced partners, amongst other things.

Linnéa Román graduated from Lund University amid the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. After her bachelor's degree, Linnéa proceeded to her master's degree in religion in Peace and Conflict at Uppsala University, which led to her engagement with people with albinism worldwide, but Tanzania in particular. As a result, Linnéa founded an organization to raise albinism awareness in Sweden and support a Tanzanian NGO in May 2023. She is currently working with Oxfam Sweden as their Digital Fundraising Lead.

Hey fellow BIDS students!! Here bellow we share with you an opportunity to participate in a summer program in Ghana!

Ernest Badu, a Communications Officer with the Ghana Health and Education Initiative – GHEI, has reached out to us with the exciting opportunity for students to be a part of the Summer Serve and Learn (SSL) Program offered by GHEI in 2024.

"GHEI's SSL program provides participants with a unique and immersive experience in rural Ghanaian communities. Students have the opportunity to work alongside local staff members and contribute to GHEI's year-round health and education programs. This program offers two distinct sessions: a Community Health Evaluation session and a Girls Empowerment Camp

During the Community Health Evaluation session, participants will be involved in a thorough and in-depth evaluation of children’s health in the community, which will provide updated control data to help us improve our health programs, and help us understand how covid and the subsequent financial crisis has affected children’s growth and vulnerability to infections, among other factors. Volunteers will help weigh and measure young children, and ensure quality data collection and complete data entry.

The Girls Empowerment Camp session offers participants the chance to design an engaging curriculum and conduct an exhaustive empowerment camp. Essential themes such as sexual and reproductive health, money management, and leadership will be covered, aiming to empower and inspire young girls.

Looking for a job? Want to have a great addition to your CV and make a bit of extra money? Being an amanuensis at the Department of Human Geography is an exciting opportunity for everyone interested in the faculty and that would like to gain experience in administrative work.
Julian Stöllinger, a third-year BIDS student who was an amanuensis earlier this year, has the following insight on the job:
During my time there, I had the opportunity to work together in a team with several staff members as well as other students, and could get a deeper insight into the department itself. The workload is around 20%, which means that you will spend around 8 hours per week working either from home, or directly at the office. Within my position, I was able to arrange my working hours flexibly, which made studying and working at the same time very easy, especially during exam season. I would really recommend taking this chance as working with the University will not only contribute to your personal development but further to your CV! Don't hesitate to contact me, I'd be happy to help!

We are excited to announce that there are several open positions to be filled on the board and many new fun activities to plan for the upcoming year! If you are interested and would like to experience an important part of student life (which is also good to have on a CV), you are more than welcome to join our annual meeting for the elections.

* 1 Head of Marketing/PR - In charge of social media such as Facebook and Instagram, and help with creating designs for events and the Organisation.
* 1 Vice president – In charge of helping the President with organizing, supervising, and evaluating the different committees and events.
* 1 Secretary – In charge of taking minutes and correspondence for the Organisation.
