Hi. Next Wednesday, we will be putting on a STEAM Day for all our students. The goal is to give students the opportunity to experience a day of STEAM activities while learning and having fun. We are in need of some supplies to make this day successful. If you are willing to send in any of the needed materials we would greatly appreciate it. If you could send them in on Friday, I know it is short notice but it would be helpful, since we do not have school on Monday. Thank you for your support.

Two weeks ago we completed our Track & Field Unit. Your student learned about different Track & Field events and on Friday participated in our very own Track Meet. Did you see their event sheet and their sticker they wore home?
Two weeks ago we completed our Gymnastics Unit. The first week consisted of tumbling and the second week was centers. The centers were the floor, balance beam, spring board, uneven bar and wedge mats. The kiddos worked really hard on sticking their landings. They loved doing flips on the bar.
We are working on a school wide project and are in need of a few items. If anyone would be willing to donate empty Gatorade bottles with the lid, dish soap(6 bottles) and Karo corn syrup (20 bottles). Any donations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Mannequin Challenge at Taylor Prairie! This week we introduced Hockey. Students learned how to hold the hockey stick, pass the ball/puck and shoot the ball/puck.
This week the gym turned into a bowling alley. The students learned how to hold and bowling ball and the steps taken to roll the ball. Some terms that were introduced were: Strike, Spare, Turkey and Silent Fox. Ask your child what the silent fox is used for in Bowling.
This week we talked about Cardiovascular endurance. We completed our Fitness Unit. We talked about different activities that we can do to increase our heart rate. Fitness centers were set up in the gym. They included the Rock Climbing Wall, Trampolines, Scooters, Hop Along Balls, Jump Ropes and Hula Hoops, and track for partner jogging. Our friends loved the rock wall and the trampolines. Can you share with your student your favorite cardio activity?
Don't forget to show your support for our Silver Eagles tonight at the homecoming football game.
There is also the MGHS Homecoming Parade at 4:15 this afternoon. It starts at Nichols School and travels to United Methodist Church in Monona.
This week we continued working on soccer skills. We played several games that worked on putting 3 soccer skills together. The Taylor Prairie Gym also had a few visitors in honor of Homecoming week at MGHS. Homecoming court, football players, the dance team, volleyball players and pep band put on an assembly for our students. They were super excited to see the Mascot make an appearance.
This week we introduced 3 soccer skills, dribbling, trapping and passing. Our picture shows the cue words we used when teaching the skills. Your student used maps to tell them where to dribble a soccer ball in the gym. Next week we will be putting the skills together to play a few different mini soccer games.
Ask your student how they earned a Pokemon card in P.E. this week while working on their throwing goals.
This week we learned how to throw a ball overhand and underhand. When teaching a skill we use "Cue Words" to help our students learn the skill. Ask your child if they can tell you the cue words for both skills.
