In the 2023-24 fiscal year, Bangladesh secured $9.88 billion in foreign aid commitments, an 8.92% increase from the previous year. However, the total remained below $10 billion due to the government's hesitation to borrow from development agencies offering market-based loans, such as those from AIIB, NDB, and ADB, which use the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR) as a reference.

Devastating floods hit 23 districts, damaging 14.58% of crop fields. Over 1.4 million hardworking farmers are affected, with estimated losses totaling BDT 33,460 million. Rehabilitation efforts allotted BDT 1,930 million.
