And just like that our first IWA Executive meeting finished. It was great to have VP Clare join in via Zoom for most of the time. So much was achieved. Thank you to Christine for hosting us.
What a wonderful opportunity to meet our International Inner Wheel President Mamta.

We are speeding toward our conference in Bathurst. Get your gear together and meet us at the "Track"!
Members of A62 had the opportunity to visit the Hudson Institute of Medical Research to meet with the team and to hear about the work that is being carried out there. What a privilege!
We heard from a number of beneficiaries of our CBR Grants including Dr Courtney McDonald and Dr Tayla Penny. Professor Suzie Miller and Professor Graham Jenkin, previous recipients, were present as well.
We also heard from two of their PhD Students, Tegan White and Ricki Marzan. A/Professor Atul Malhotra and Dr Lindsay Zhou spoke about the connection between the research being done and the clinical trials being undertaken at the Monash Children’s Hospital.
Whilst we were overwhelmed with the enthusiasm an skills of the researchers, they were so appreciative of the support they have received from all members of Inner Wheel over the years. As several of them explained, the support they received from us often gave them the start they needed to then apply for substantial funding from Government and other sources.

Maree Budweg - recipient of the IWA President's Inaugual Award.
One of the many highlights at the recent IWA Changeover was the presentation of the Inner Wheel Australia President’s Award. On her travels through the country President Susan heard of many members who give above and beyond for Inner Wheel, each in their own unique way. Susan has chosen to institute an award to recognise one of these members.
Maree Budweg from the Inner Wheel Club of Wandin, District A61 was recognised for her “Consistent and outstanding personal fundraising efforts in support of Cord Blood Research.”
This award was passed on to Maree at the recent A61 Changeover.
Congratulations Maree.
Like most dedicated members, we probably only hear about a small portion of the time, effort and personal commitment involved in the work that she has done over many years.

The Inner Wheel Club of Moe have been supporting "The Wear House"- a community project supporting vulnerable patients at Latrobe Regional Health in Gippsland, Victoria by making and supplying toiletry packs for a number of years now.
They were recently recognised and featured on the Latrobe Regional Health FaceBook site.
“Latrobe Regional Health
In a perfect world you'd be admitted to hospital in a planned manner with a small bag of clothing and personal belongings to help you during your admission.
Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way and that's where The Wear House comes in.
Established with community support The Wear House is our clothing facility to help vulnerable patients in our care.
Patients who present to LRH without a change of clothes or toiletries are provided with the basics to get then through their stay or until family or friends are able to support them.
These patients may have experienced physical or emotional trauma, a mental health episode or an emergency situation.
Since opening in August 2022 we have supported more than 800 patients, that's around two each day!
A big thanks to the many individuals, businesses and wonderful community groups who have supported The Wear House, including the ladies from the Inner Wheel Club of Moe.
Here you can see some of the group packing toiletry packs to be shared with other community members who may need one. ”
Inner Wheel Australia at Work
In November 2022 the Eugowra community (NSW- between Forbes and Orange) suffered dreadfully with disastrous flooding. Inner Wheel Australia, working in conjunction with District A50, were able to activate the IWA Disaster Fund and support this local community with a donation of $7,000.00. The Eugowra Community Children’s Centre was the specific organisation supported.
As you can imagine it takes a little while for all the clean-up, assessment and planning required to repair and replace things and for the community to feel a little more settled. So it was with much pleasure that A50 District Chairman, Janet Power, Immediate Past District Chairman Sue Brown (IWC Corowa secretary) and A50 Treasurer, Tricia Cuming were able to represent all members of Inner Wheel Australia when the local ECCC held an Open Day and Appreciation Luncheon on May 8th 2024.
Please see the link to the more detailed report filed by IP DC Sue Brown.https://innerwheelaustralia.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/2024-MAy-8th-report-of-ECCCAppreciation-Day-1.pdf
