It seems we may have a new nickname for ourselves! Yesterday at the market was fun even though it was really hot. So we drank lots of fluids and took many breaks to make sure we all stayed ok. During breaks we checked out what the market had to offer. The younger ones of us discovered a vendor selling crocheted bees, and I think they tried to buy her out….. now we are affectionately calling ourselves “Red River Bees”!
We are the Clarksville Downtown Market tomorrow morning from 8:00 am until noon! It’s going to be hot but we play cool Celtic tunes from long long ago. Come say hello, listen for a bit, and check out what the market has to offer!
We are at the market this morning in front of the Roxy! Come see us!
Michaela, Sunny, David, and I (Stephanie) went to the Swannanoa Gathering Celtic Music Week at Warren Wilson College all last week and had a wonderful time! We took classes in Bodhran, Irish flute, Irish whistle, and Concertina from the best musicians in the world in this genre and on these instruments. We saw amazing instructor concerts and interfaced with lovely folks from all around the country and the world that love Celtic music like we do. This was a very immersive experience and we are back with new techniques and ideas to add to our music. We want to go back next year and maybe even take the whole band!
It’s market day! Come on down to the Clarksville Downtown Market and shop for fresh veggies, pastries, and hand crafts. We will be set up in from of the Roxy Regional Theatre on Franklin Street from 9:00 to 11:00 am so stop by and say hi and listen to our special Celtic sound. We can’t wait to see you!

Due to the weather this morning and the market delaying opening an hour, we are postponing playing in front of the Roxy until 10:00. Fingers crossed it gets better…. Watch this space in case we have to cancel completely this morning. Here’s hoping we can make this happen!
Come on down to Franklin Street Saturday morning; we will be performing in front of the Roxy Regional Theatre from 9 am until 11 am! The Roxy has graciously allowed us to perform in front of their building and are also putting some seating out for you to sit awhile and listen to our music. You can also stop by the downtown market that will be in full swing on Public Square along with other happenings in the downtown area. We are excited to have this opportunity to play our music for you and are so very grateful for the support we have always gotten from the Roxy! We love playing for everyone and this gives us an amazing way to do it! Thank you again to the Roxy!
Spring is in the air and we have been rehearsing getting ready for summer gigs and…. Drum roll… we ARE going to record our next album this summer! Somewhat disappointing news is that we only have three dates to perform at the Clarksville Downtown Market - a major difference from the last many summers where we played there twice a month throughout the season. It appears that the market has a bunch of entertainers this year besides us - good news for them, but leaves us with pretty big gaps in our summer schedule. So…. album prep and recording here we come! We are brain storming ideas to create opportunities to play for you as we love performing our music for you. And, if any of you have ideas or know of fairs, festivals, markets, or other events that would like to have us perform, please let us know!
Also, our first market date is June 3rd, and we also play at Dunbar Cave State Park later in the day for Cooling at the Cave! More info coming soon as well as Facebook events with the details!

I write this post with great sadness. Red River Breeze lost a cherished part of our band family, and I lost my very close friend. Dr. Jill Eichhorn passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 2nd. For all the amazing things she accomplished in her life and the many people she touched, to us she was our guest recorder player and huge band advocate. Jill learned how to play recorders by taking lessons from me starting five years ago, something she had always wanted to do, and she loved having music-making in her life. Her excitement was inspiring to us. We miss you Jill, we can’t believe you are gone from us, and we can only hope to be as joyful and giving as you showed us. I am certain the angels are enjoying your beautiful recorder music.
Dr. Jill Eichhorn to be remembered by friends, family in APSU campus service this week | ClarksvilleNow.com Dr. Jill Eichhorn passed from this life into the great mystery on Sunday, Oct. 2, after a brief illness.
Our last Downtown market gig for the season yesterday. It was fun once the rains moved out around 10 am. Until that happened, we were In protect the instruments mode! Oh the stories we could tell over all the years we’ve been a band and playing in all kinds of conditions! But it’s alway fun. And we had folks dancing in the street to our tunes yesterday!
Happy Saturday to everyone! Today we are at the Clarksville Downtown Market from 8 am until noon. It is our last time for the season so we hope to see you there! What’s next for us…. We will be transitioning to rehearsals for several concerts and gigs in and around December for the holiday season so watch this space!
Set up and ready to perform yesterday at the Frolic on Franklin! So much fun and a great audience!
