Today we discussed the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We debated whether or not exploring these articles was important. We came to the conclusion that although these articles are not laws, abiding by them is a sign of integrity. Integrity means doing the right thing when no one is looking. “So does that mean I should share the last cookie with my sister Ms. Rodriguez?” “Yes, you should share the cookie!” A lesson in integrity, love and laughter.

Remember that feeling you used to get on the night before your first day of school? The anticipation of a new school year, a new teacher, old friends, maybe new ones? That is what New Year’s Eve always feels like to me. I have been fortunate to still live the first day of school every year, not only because I am a teacher, but because I know all to well that if we are open to it, the New Year is our chance to all have a new school year, a year to use what we learned in the previous grade and apply it to a New Year. Life is our greatest teacher, and we all have met her and witnessed her lessons. Call it resolutions, call it change, call it a new gym membership. Whatever you you call it, the lessons are there to help you to solve the happiness, peace, and joy equation. Check your notes and enjoy the new lessons that await you in your new grade. I know I will. Hope to see you in class! 2018 this little guy and I leave you behind and we thank you for all the blessings. 2019 we welcome with open arms. Happy New Year everyone!

Today my post is dedicated to . As an educator, I have been blessed with the greatest job in the world! I get to be a part of beautiful lives like this one. Ariely you were, are and will@always be such a wonderful student. You continue to show the world who you are and thankfully the world continues to recognize it. Continue being you, as I know you will go far! Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Vidal for sharing this triumph with me, and for letting me be a part of your daughter’s fourth grade life@and beyond! She was and is a pleasure! 🍎

A very special event is in the works for the little girls of . will be hosting an awesome book reading on 10/7/18. She Shines Bright is an amazing book for many reasons but most important, because it teaches our young girls the potential of being anything they want to be!! DETAILS TO FOLLOW, SOON.

On Tuesday my school will be honoring my childhood librarian, Mrs. Yetta Kornblit. Its been years since her name came up for me, but after seeing her picture, and talking to my old teachers, the memories of my childhood came flooding back. People like Mrs. Kornblit helped me become who I am today, and it just made me think how I ended up right where I was supposed to be this year. Mrs. Kornblit I promise my students will sit nicely in rows, and I promise I will help them to find their love for reading. Most importantly, I will teach them that kindness above all things is what really matters the most.
