Just a friendly reminder that GSPGA Futurity breedings will need to occur in Aug. & Sept. for kids born between 1/1/23 - 2/28/23.

A wonderful opportunity for ALL youth is coming to the Kern County Fairgrounds August 13! Grooming and Showmanship clinics, Showmanship competitions, Obstacle Course, plus a Costume Contest and a Photography Contest--all with great prizes and lots of fun! Entries are due by August 3, so hurry and get them in. Spread the word and tag your Pygmy friends so they know all about it as well!

HERDBOOK UDATE!
Since the release of the new website at 5pm EST we've received some inquiries on the status of the new herdbook. Rest assured it is coming. With travel to Convention and wrapping up last minute changes we are planning to release the new herdbook to former herdbook members first, tentatively Friday evening during the 2022 NPGA National Convention. We want to extend our thanks for your continued patience as this has been a project of mass proportions, 138,000+ animals to be exact dating back many decades. In the meantime, here is a teaser of pedigree view (showing 4 generations and can go up to 8 ). Our webmaster is working to finish up a help document that will be available to all herdbook subscribers on how to use the new platform as well to make the transition to the new platform as smooth as possible. Thank you!

PHOTO/LIVE COVERAGE UPDATE FOR CONVENTION
We are looking forward to seeing everyone this week at the 2022 NPGA National Convention. We have a couple of media related announcements we'd like to share:

1. Photographs of Directors, Judges and Officers
Diane Keith and Nicole Zaagman will be working together to capture updated photographs of everyone for the new website. Please plan to attend one of the scheduled times to have your photo taken, or reach out directly to Diane to set up a separate time slot. Session 1: Friday June 10, 3 - 5pm and Session 2: Saturday June 11, 10am -12pm (both at the Fairgrounds).

1. Facebook Lives
In addition to her many photo talents, Diane Keith and a few others will be going live on Facebook throughout convention. Check out these scheduled times 2022 National Champion Challenge FB live and 2022 Convention Banquet & Auction FB Live. We will be going live on this page throughout the event with interviews and coverage of the event.

While you’re making your summer schedule, OC Fair is back this year!! July 15-17 for Pygmies. Fair youth & open and SCPGA youth & open (youth can only show in the youth shows here). Most of the details are below.

Or CA State Fair is July 19-22 if you’d rather head north. One youth show and three open shows! More info coming soon.

OC FAIR EMAIL:
The 2022 OC Fair Livestock Competition Guides are now available at https://ocfair.com/oc-fair/competitions-contests/animals/ . The 2022 OC Fair Pygmy dates are July 15 through July 17 (open Wednesday-Sunday), and the theme is “Feel the Sunshine.” Please visit our website at ocfair.com for additional information regarding the OC Fair.

Breeding Livestock entries close on Friday, June 24, 2022.

General OC Fair Updates for 2022:
The livestock area will continue to have a modified layout, but we will be adding an additional tent to house animals this year which was not there in 2021.
Trailer parking will be available in the back-of-house area in the Livestock Dept (not offsite).
Opening time has been pushed back to 11am daily (10am in 2021).

ShoWorks entries are now available!

Please note the following updates to the 2022 OC Fair livestock competitions:
Credentials – Exhibitors will be required to pay for additional credential wristbands for parents and guardians. Please review the Livestock Credential Policy for more information.
Straw, Shaving and Hay – Straw, shavings and alfalfa will NOT be available for purchase from the Livestock Office. Please plan accordingly.
Food Safety – For the safety of exhibitors, no food or drinks will be allowed in animal areas. An area has been established for exhibitors to safely eat food at a safe distance from animals; tables and chairs will NOT be provided. Food will not be available for purchase from onsite vendors and food preparation is NOT allowed.

Breeding Exhibitors – NEW for 2021:
YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) – new website format, check it out on yqcaprogram(dot)org.
Pygmy Goats – Open and Youth Pygmy goat shows are back for 2022 and will be sanctioned by the National Pygmy Goat Association. See the Breeding Livestock Competition Guide for more information.
