Assemblywoman Andrea Katz
Assemblywoman serving Burlington and Atlantic County's 8th Legislative District
This week, I wanted to spotlight Pragna Bethapudi. She’s been interning in my office for the past few months and has been doing an incredible job. She has helped research policy, correspond with constituents, and tackle many other office tasks. I’m so thankful to have her helping out in my office!
My staff was at the Burlington County Hope One event to help provide state resources for anyone in need earlier today. If you or someone you know needs help from the state, please contact my office.
Earlier this week I was volunteering with some fellow moms for my daughter Molly’s swim team! 🏊
This week is Burlington County’s Farm Fair and I was there last night. People come from all over for it and I’m lucky enough to have it right in my backyard. Make sure you get moo-ving 🐄 over there before the cows come home tomorrow!
I just toured the Pemberton Early Childhood Education Center with the New Jersey Department of Agriculture and talked about the great work that the Summer Food Service Program is doing! NJ has made real progress in the last few years addressing food insecurity and I got to see it today.
Under Speaker Craig J. Coughlin’s leadership, this has been a priority for the legislature and it’s made a huge difference in the lives of kids and families across New Jersey.
Daniel Ovadia has been interning in my office and doing an incredible job! He’s helped with legislative research, corresponded with constituents, and much more so far. He’s heading into his senior year of high school and his future is bright.
Great job and thank you, Daniel!
I spent the morning at Holbein Middle School in Mount Holly to see the NJ Tutoring Corps in action! The kids were having such a fun time learning math skills and it was amazing to see.
As everyone knows, we are in the middle of a heat wave and we all need someplace cool to spend time. We have multiple cooling centers here in LD8 that you can find on our graphics or you can also visit nj211.org.
Congratulations to JAG Physical Therapy on their ribbon cutting in Hainesport! I saw how important physical therapy was after my son’s sports injury and it’s always encouraging to see businesses investing in Burlington & Atlantic Counties.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has made great progress already in containing the fire. I’ll continue to monitor the situation with my office.
My office is monitoring a wildfire currently in Ocean, and Burlington Counties. I will continue to provide updates as I receive them. Remember, DON'T fly drones in fire zones.
Yesterday I met some great folks from RK Chevrolet. Sandy, passed away from breast cancer so RK Chevrolet decided to have a car raffle donating all proceeds to breast cancer research. I know Sandy meant so much to everyone she knew and I am so inspired by his generous donation.
I had such a good time in Hammonton last night! It was the first day of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Festival and it’s going on for the rest of the week. Make sure you head over there if you’re able!
I was so honored to meet with Elizabeth Mendel about my legislation to combat eating disorders today! She was crowned Miss Jersey last month and her community service initiative is eating disorder awareness. It was wonderful to hear how she plans to use her platform to address the issue. I can’t wait to work with her in the coming months on it!
Congratulations to Alex Sztajerwald and Catie Andrews for being accepted into West Point! I know Seneca must be proud that they are sending two students to such a prestigious academy. It is always encouraging to see young men & women choosing a path of service. What a huge accomplishment for each of them!
Lumberton’s own Tyler Phillips is starting for the first time later today!! It’s scheduled for 4:05pm. Good luck to Tyler and the Phillies!
Funding our community colleges is essential for supporting our students and their futures. Making education affordable and accessible should be a priority, as it is historically the greatest vehicle for social mobility and opens so many doors for New Jersey students.
Burlington County’s own Kevin Nunez was at the White House for their panel discussion to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Olmstead Decision. He’s an activist for people with disabilities and ensuring they have greater opportunities. Well done, Kevin!
The forest fire that threatened Tabernacle and Woodland is a reminder of the importance of fire prevention. Fireworks caused this most recent fire and we can prevent the next one by being mindful of these common sense rules.
I am so happy that this year’s budget will be setting aside funds towards StayNJ! It is so great that we are providing this vital support to our seniors, and enabling them to retire comfortably here in New Jersey.
My office is still accepting donations for sealed diapers, baby clothes, feminine hygiene products, rompers, and new socks! If you are able to donate, please consider it. My office is open from 9a-5p every weekday.
Education is a topic that is near and dear to my heart, and I am so thrilled to say that this year’s budget is providing unprecedented support to our kids - from preschool to college. Empowering students and families to be able to receive an education is so crucial, and I am so happy that this budget will allow New Jersey families to do just that.
Supporting our veterans should always be a priority, and I am proud to support a budget that will provide resources for our veterans. It will allow for so many great home improvements for our veterans, and I am happy that this budget is prioritizing such important issues and communities.
A huge thank you to all the first responders who sacrificed time with their families this holiday weekend and bravely contributed to fighting the forest fire that threatened Tabernacle and Woodland.
The 2025 budget will pay for more ANCHOR relief that so many New Jerseyans depend on. I know that affordability is one of the most important things that we can address in the legislature and this budget delivers.
Happy National Blueberry Day!! I’m thankful to represent the very best blueberry farms in the world 🫐
LD8’s own, Tyler Phillips, just had a record-setting MLB debut for the Phillies! He struck out seven in relief and broke a 123 year old record. Congratulations Tyler and I’m sure you have a very bright future ahead for the Phils!
The NJ Forest Fire Service is continuing the monitor and contain the fire in Wharton. Another huge thank you to New Jersey Forest Fire Service, Tabernacle Rescue Squad, Green Bank Fire Co, and so many others who have spent the last few days fighting and containing the forest fire.
