The solar eclipse amplifies the new moon energy on Monday, marking it as a time of significant change, unexpected developments, and powerful revelations that can redirect our paths in life. It's a wonderful time to do a yoga nidra and set an intention (or heartfelt desire) of something we'd like to manifest in our lives. When we set an intention it's like planting a seed.

If you're looking to calm your nervous system, or get some needed rest, you'll enjoy this class. The class is received lying down or sitting in a comfortable position. Make sure you're warm and if you're lying down you might want to cover your eyes to block out the light.

It's okay to give yourself time to rest and relax. As a society we tend to think we always have to be doing and accomplishing but rest is so important to our well being. I'm offering a yoga nidra class on Wednesday, January 31st at 11:30 a.m. EST. The class will be on Zoom and will be recorded. The next chair yoga session on Zoom starts next week. The classes will be on Tuesdays from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. EST. The classes will be recorded and you'll be sent a link to the video which will last 7 days, allowing you to do the class when it suits you (and as often as you'd like during the week). The session will run for 10 weeks (January 9th to March 12th). If you're interested please send me a message and I will e-mail you all the details.

Thanks to those of you who replied to my question about your interest in a yoga Nidra meditation. I’m glad I asked because there is a lot of interest! I will do a yoga Nidra next Friday, March 3rd at our regularly scheduled class time (11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST). If there is a big interest in continuing, I might create a new time slot for the yoga nidra, and offer it once week, so that those who do yoga classes with me three times a week, don’t have to miss a stretch day. The class is on Zoom and you will receive a replay link to the class which you can use as often as you like for 7 days. You can also ‘buy’ the video through Ubindi and have access for life. Or, if you have a monthly subscription with me the class will be in the video library and you can view it as often as you’d like.
Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 2-4 hours of deep sleep. It reduces stress and promotes a deeply restful experience. It’s a very easily accessible form of meditation because all you need to do is get comfortable either lying down or sitting in a comfortable chair. I prefer lying down so I don’t have to worry about holding my head up. 😉 You want to make sure you’re warm and bear in mind that your body temperature can drop as you relax, so have a blanket handy. You might also want a small pillow under your head.

Our Story

Barbara Pearce is a certified Sound Healer, Divya yoga instructor, certified Thai yoga masseuse, Reiki Master, and is qualified to teach Chair yoga, restorative yoga and yoga nidra.

Barbara did her yoga teacher training with Daryl Vansier where she learned Divya yoga. Daryl’s methodology of teaching ascribes to being able to articulate the postures in such a way that you should be able to teach to someone who can’t see you and they’ll still be able to follow the class. Barbara’s students often comment on her precise instructions and clear direction. Barbara studied Chair yoga with Peggy Cappy, Restorative yoga with Michael Bridge-Dickson, Yoga Nidra with Richard Miller and Reiki with Patrick Deegan.

Barbara teaches yoga to people with arthritis, MS and cancer. She teaches to people over 50, to corporations and young adults.

Barbara’s goal is to bring a sense of peace to people and to give them the tools to find balance in their body, mind and spirit.
