Many of us view our lives as a series of events in which we’re always running for our lives with no end in sight.

Instead of viewing life as a race in which we are strengthened by God and renewed daily, we see it as a demolition derby; we get smashed by circumstances and hobble off the field with little strength or hope left.

Many of us live in survival mode, doing anything we can to stay afloat.

Have you ever said things like that? “I’m just trying to stay afloat? I’m just trying to stay alive?” They reveal so much about our mindsets!

There is such a difference in life when we shift our perspectives from survive
to thrive--when we care about and understand the journey versus when we just try to keep our heads above water.

The book of Isaiah was written by Prophet Isaiah during the 8th century BC.

Chapter 40 is about the gospel and the coming of Christ, comfort for God’s people, and the sovereign power of God. It is only the power from above that can deliver us.

Isaiah is trying to help his people see that while the challenges of life can be tough, they can also be overcome and managed through the hope and strength of Christ.

The end isn’t survival; it is soaring on the wind above it all with God at your side!

How do we stop reacting to life as it kicks our butts and start being proactive so we can rise above our circumstances?

“They that wait…..”

I would posit that we need more “wait” in our lives. We need to stop, think, and invite God into our decision-making every second of every day.

Wait on His leading, His timing, and His peace before we leap from thing to thing, exhausting ourselves and, potentially, stepping into the line of fire.

When we wait on Him during our everyday, He can do exactly as the verse says: renew us as we go, and carry us above so many of the things that usually take us down.

Life looks simpler from high above it all. From rat race to eagle soar, life can look and feel different.

Prayer:

I pray today that you allow God to shift your approach to things, even if it hurts.

I pray you see life as more than a series of unfortunate events and begin to see the power in His pace and the wisdom in the wait.

I pray you soar this week, if not for the first time, then for the first time in a long time. Feel what it means to thrive again!
