She joined our then, tiny family, at eight weeks old; we have shared numerous experiences and made many sweet memories together - oh my heart… ❤️
We are currently living through a historic ice storm in Central Texas; hoping to hold on to power, so I can whip together a celebratory Birthday cake AND spaghetti noodles! 🎂🍝

My, my, my. It’s been a little while… 😳
After avoiding it for 2.5 years - The Mr. and I got clobbered (hard!) by “The Virus”. 🦠
It was pretty darn difficult to care for everyone and everything while feeling like death warmed over, but we managed and the animals had no reason to notice anything different.
Outside of dealing with allergies, neither of us have been sick since starting the sanctuary; so, in years, and it was rough. Although we have almost fully recovered, we still have a few symptoms that have made themselves at home, but are very unwelcome annoyances.
I stayed away from social media, and now after nearly a month, am just popping back on.
All res•cued residents are very happy, healthy and doing great! They all helped tremendously in our mental wellness and in darkness are always the brightest of lights. ❤️

He is a true gem. The Mr. and I love this darn pup so stinkin’ much and we wish him the best of birthdays! ❤️

Setting cute captions aside for today, this is a serious post that I will keep somewhat short and direct.
We are facing a crisis. Central Texas is in an extreme drought; specifically in our exact location, we’ve not had a drop of rain since 06/28. We have no grass. Our ground is cracked to the opposite side of the planet.
We live on a 55 acre hay farm, and last year we leased the 70 acres next to us to grow and harvest hay on as well. Our 2021 cutting provided us with 140 large, round bales to feed our cows and goats. This year (our most recent cutting) we got 6! S-I-X!!!!!!! The cost to purchase hay (if any can even be found) is more than double the cost it was. We’ve been networking out of state, and on top of transportation costs ($5-5.50/mile), trucks can only bring 33-35 bales at a time. With 32 cows and 7 goats, we go through 1-2 bales a day in the summer, and double that in the winter. To say I am stressed, panicked and worried would all be an understatement.
To make up for the lack of hay, we just purchased double our normal amount of feed, which, of course is also doubled in price per bag, so the bill was hefty!
This isn’t the first drought in history, but the first for us in the four years we’ve been an organization.
Do you know what ranchers and farmers do in response to the high cost and lack of food? They thin out their herds by culling them (that’s a nice way of saying kill). Obviously that will never, ever happen at res•cued, so we need help. Like, really, really need help. 🙏🏼
We understand times are tough for everyone right now - BUT - if you could spare even the smallest amount of funds to help us with feed costs, we would be forever grateful.
Finally, if our 5500 Instagram & 1300 FB followers could each share our plea, we may have a better chance of fundraising. 🙏🏼
I assure you, each and every cent goes towards hay/feed; not treats or toys or a rainy day fund. This IS our rainy day. Well, I pray for an actual rainy day… 🙏🏼

We found a ‘cooling misting line with misting nozzles’ on and after turning it on, in less than 30 seconds, the moos began to mosey over to check it out! Hennessie got there first. ☺️
Looks like we’ll be ordering more. More for the moos, more for the oinks, more for the bleats, more for the buns…

We have numerous wild animals that either call res•cued home, or drop-in for an extended stay. This is Chloe the Cottontail. 🐰 She can be found hanging out amongst all the residents, but she seems to be most fond of the oinks (The Poshy’s & The Piggles, specifically).
Chloe started out, like most wildlife, very skittish, however these days is perfectly content with us humans in her presence. I’ve 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 got her eating out of my hand… 🥹❤️

03 July is a special day. It is the day The Mr. was born 👶🏻 There is not enough space to type or even enough words to express how much I love and appreciate this extraordinary human. Without The Mr., res•cued Sanctuary would not exist. He co-founded this dream of mine and nearly fully-funds it.
He works a full-time job for a large corporation, attends the University of Texas, is starting a business and helps me with our 80 animal babies. He deserves some special recognition on this day. He greatly dislikes the attention and is not a fan of celebrating his birthday, but I don’t care 😆 - SO - I ask that y’all help me in wishing Craig the Hap-Happiest Birthday!!! 🥳
