The 185th ESC has wrapped up another successful Annual Training. The Brewer Range and Shoot House Projects are both 100% complete, and look great! Soldiers from the 185th Engineer Support Company and the New Hampshire Detachment went over and above in completing the project, and we are very proud of the finished product. A special thanks to Mr. Jason Moffitt and his team for their incredible partnership. We are honored to have contributed to a project that will support the town of Brewer, ME and all of the law enforcement officers who will be able to use the range. County Thunder!

The 185th ESC has completed the earthwork portion of the Brewer Range. The vertical build of the shoot house interior walls have been completely constructed with a strong push from the New Hampshire detachment and support from the main body to finish up the last of the block laying. The NH detachment will pour the grout on the 12th for the interior walls bringing the project to 100% completion. We are extremely proud of the hard work and long hours that were put in by our Soldiers to accomplish the mission. We are excited and honored to be able to provide these range improvements to our local, state, and federal Law Enforcement Officers.

The “County Thunder'' is off to a great start for this year’s Annual Training! The 185th Engineer Support Company, out of Presque Isle, ME, has joined up with their Detachment from New Hampshire to work on expanding and adding to the Brewer Police Department Range. This project is the first time the company has conducted consolidated training together since the divestiture of the Houlton Armory in 2021. From first formation, to the job site, Soldiers have displayed exceptional Unit cohesion and motivation. Soldiers from the New Hampshire Detachment have gotten significant time training on Engineer equipment, while the vertical platoon of New Hampshire also constructs a 20x30’ tactical entry training building. County Thunder!

Keep up the great work SSG Kevin Clayton!

Our 488th Soldier of the Week is SSG Kevin Clayton! SSG Clayton comes to us from the 185th Engineer Company. SSG Clayton is from Presque Isle and works as a residential carpenter on the civilian side. SSG Clayton goal in the Guard is to be a Platoon Sergeant and do his full 25 years. His hobbies include riding motorcycles and hunting.

SSG Clayton's words of wisdom come from JFK, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country."

SSG Clayton was chosen as the Soldier of the Week because he has continually proven himself to be an asset to the Company and the mission. He is always volunteering for extra shifts, inspiring his Soldiers to work harder, and setting the example on what it means to be a NCO. He also recently worked as our Range Safety Officer for a Company range, leading to a successful range with no safety violation. Keep up the great work!
