Mayor Ronald, together with other LCEs, completed the 18-month Health Leadership and Governance Program by the DOH.
The goal of the program is to create resilient health systems that can adapt to changing community needs and health challenges to achieve health equity.
Redemption and Change: The Journey Beyond Substance Abuse
Substance abuse often casts a long shadow, impacting not just individuals but entire communities. However, the journey to recovery is a powerful testament to human resilience and the possibility of change.
Redemption begins with acknowledging the struggle. Itโs about facing the reality of addiction and its consequences, whether it's broken relationships, lost opportunities, or health issues. This acknowledgment can be painful, but itโs the first step toward healing.
Change is not merely a goal; it's a process. Many find that recovery involves redefining their identity and rebuilding their lives. This can include seeking professional help, engaging in therapy, or joining support groups where shared experiences foster understanding and hope.
The road to recovery is often nonlinear, filled with challenges and setbacks. Yet, each small victory, whether it's staying sober for a day, reconnecting with loved ones, or pursuing new passions, marks significant progress.
Community plays a crucial role in this journey. Support from friends, family, and peer networks can provide the encouragement needed to keep moving forward. Additionally, community-based programs can offer essential resources and a sense of belonging.
Ultimately, redemption through change highlights the strength of the human spirit. Itโs a reminder that, despite the darkest moments, transformation is possible. Every step taken toward recovery is a step toward a brighter, more hopeful future. Embracing this journey not only changes lives but can also inspire others to seek their own paths to redemption.

In pursuit of a society that promotes the well-being of all Filipinos, the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH Central Visayas CHD) prompts stakeholders and the general public to collaboratively address risk factors for su***de while promoting protective factors. Mental Health issues and su***de remain as a major global and regional concern. Recently, reports in the region circulated that people lost their lives while battling a form of mental health issue, which is why DOH Central Visayas CHD emphasizes the importance of mental health.
Families, friends, and institutions have a significant role to play in ensuring that those in need receive assistance. It is paramount that we specifically acknowledge our feelings and thoughts while encouraging everyone to be more understanding, patient, and kind when people with mental health problems decide to seek professional help.
Recognizing the need for assistance from mental health professionals is a sign of strength, not weakness. We urge the public not to stigmatize or discriminate against people suffering from depression or other mental health conditions.
Moreover, the DOH Central Visayas CHD joins mental health professionals and advocates in imploring the public to respect grieving families and individuals who have been affected by the passing of someone they love. Let us be responsible social media users and abstain from uploading videos and reports that sensationalize the individualโs and their loved oneโs pain and suffering.
Depression and other mental health conditions can strike anyone at anytime. Itโs crucial to observe and support those around us who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts or mental health issues and even those people who may appear okay. We want to underscore that assistance is readily available for people of all ages, regardless of social status, gender or religion. We can create a more compassionate community that prioritizes mental health and well-being.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, itโs important to reach out for help immediately and you can contact DOH Tawag Paglaum - Centro Bisaya at 0939-936-5433, 0939-937-5433, 0966-467-9626 the DOH Central Visayas CHD Mental Health Program at 260-9740 loc. 208 or, the DOH National Center for Mental Health Crisis Hotline 1553, or your trusted mental health professional.
The DOH, through the National Immunization Program and Health Promotion Unit, conducted their Regional Immunization Summit last September 13, 2024 at Bai Hotel.
The said summit aimed to evaluate their stakeholders with regards to their immunization coverage and efficacy.
The activity also aimed to tackle challenges, exchange knowledge and ideas, and formulate strategic plan to enhance immunization initiatives in Central Visayas.
To conclude the activity, the DOH recognized their stakeholders for embracing the challenge and performing the tasks to help eliminate vaccine preventable diseases.
The Municipality of Oslob, through the Municipal Health Office, delivers this service and important task through our Public Health Nurse, DOH Nurses, Midwives and BHWs monthly, even at the peak of COVID-19 pandemic, to help the community fight and eliminate vaccine preventable diseases.
Vaccines save lives and protect health! Vaccines work!
