I Deserve Light

I deserve clear light, bestowed from high, A radiant beam that fills my sky. No muddled haze, no veiled disguise, Just purest rays that open my eyes.

I deserve pure light, so untainted, Where truth and beauty are acquainted. No shadows cast upon my soul, A brilliance that makes me feel whole.

I deserve the light of clarity, To pierce through doubts and set me free. A beacon strong, unwavering, bright, Guiding me through darkness, day and night.

In depths of thought, where shadows creep, I yearn for light, secrets to unweave. For in the glow of understanding's grace, I find solace, and my spirit embrace.

So let the heavens with radiance bestow, And let my spirit forever glow. For I deserve clear light, pure and true, whispering to my inner soul.

בעברית, מדידה ותכונות אופי הן אותה מילה, מידות. כאשר אנו מצליחים לתקן את תכונות האופי שלנו, אנו מעמידים את עצמנו ביישור נכון. כמו לוחות שנחתכו כמו שצריך, כדי להתאים זה לזה בדיוק, לפי התוכנית, כפי שכל נגר יודע.

כך גם כך אנו מיישרים את עצמנו להתקרבות להקדוש ברוך הוא. אין קיצורי דרך, והניסור יכול להיות כואב ולהשאיר ערימה של נסורת. עם זאת, הריהוט המוגמר אינו יסולא בפז ויחזיק מעמד לנצח.

Fixing our character traits. In Hebrew, measurement and character traits are the same word, Midot. When we succeed in fixing/correcting our character traits, we place ourselves in proper alignment. Like boards that have been cut properly, to fit together exactly, according to the plan, as every carpenter knows.

So too, this is how we align ourselves to get closer to G-d. There are no shortcuts, and the sawing can be painful and leave a pile of sawdust. Yet the finished furniture is priceless and will last forever.
