Two days ago this (Columbus Circle outside of Penn Station) was the site of a violent protest by a mob of hate-filled Hamas-sympathizers. It was more peaceful today and MOST of the graffiti has been washed away. Special thanks and gratitude to the US Park Police Fraternal Order of Police- United States Park Police Labor Committee who are always so dependable in the face of danger. Let's hope Congress and the Administration pass law enforcement legislation in the weeks ahead to help them crawl out of their current historic staffing crisis. Without it, I worry about our wonderful city this November when political tensions will be predictably high.

We all love the monuments in DC, but whether urban federal parks remain safe places is, unfortunately, a real question.

Spencer Says Graffiti On The Mall Underscores Shortage Of Park Police Following an incident of vandalism at the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall, the chairman of the U.S. Park Police Fraternal Order of Police Kenneth Spencer says the matter lends credence to his call for the hiring of additional park police personnel.

Most of American life is subject to political interpretation and predisposition ... but this controversy over Hamas stuns me. How any American from either political party can support those who call for the genocide of any ethnic/religious group is beyond the political pale.

The recent criminal vandalism at the Lincoln Memorial is another measure intended to intimidate Americans. These terrorist sympathizers should have been apprehended the minute the first can of paint was opened.

Maybe this will jolt the National Park Service and Congress to do more to support urban federal law enforcement officers who protect our national monuments and parks.

Chairman Spencer did a great job in the "hot seat" for today's House Natural Resources Committee hearing. The officers of the US Park Police are rightfully concerned about the safety of New York City residential neighborhoods as the Biden Administration builds migrant shelters on federal park lands.

What a fun (and productive) visit with Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX) this morning. Rep. Sessions is a strong advocate for law enforcement and the officers at the US Park Police are grateful for his leadership and friendship.
