A Wilde Life

Open heart | quiet mind 💚
The more life challenges you to close, the more important it is to stay open ✨
“Don’t fall, let go. No matter what it is, let it go.
The bigger it is, the higher the reward of letting go and the worse the fall if you don’t.
Let all of your blockages and disturbances become the fuel for the journey.
That which is holding you down can become a powerful force that raises you up, you just have to be willing to take the ascent.”
~ Michael Singer • The Unteathered Soul
110% recommend this book to everyone that recognises there is a beautiful existence inside of you that knows you are not your emotions, you are not your thoughts, you are not your physical body, you are the one who can see and experience all of these things, and therefore are something so much deeper.
As soon as you feel something pull your energy, breathe, and bring yourself back.

“What do you do?”
“Well, what I love doing is running yoga retreats. With my mum.”
“Ohhh, how special.”
Yep, it sure is. 🫶🏽
How lucky to not only love what I do, but share it with the one who gave me life. ✨💫
Special doesn’t even begin to cover it…
Grateful for this beautiful, wise & wonderful woman that the universe graced me with as a mother 🌞
Exciting announcement!
I had always intended for 2023 to be the year I brought on another yoga teacher to the AWL team, and thankfully when I decided it was time - the beautiful was the first one who came to mind 🫶🏽
Soooo, here she is! Maddy & I have a very similar yoga background (and shared love of both travel, independence and helping others) having grown up with Dru Yogi mamas, doing our first yoga course with and then combining this with our love of Vinyasa. She’s also an OT, providing Telehealth services to individuals of all ages across Australia.
Maddy was on the first Yoga & Sailing Retreat last year before she returned home, quit her job, spent 2 months in Bali, has spent most of this year travelling (including teaching at a surf & yoga retreat centre in Sri Lanka), and will be on her way to one of my favourite places in the world, the Dru centre in Snowdonia National Park in North Wales 🏴 (any of this sound familiar? 😉)
Luckily for me, she’ll be teaching alongside my beautiful mama for the September Yoga & Sailing Retreat. Her passions are using yoga & breathwork in an inclusive way to help regulate the body and mind to find balance and stillness, and to help people do the things they love.
While it’ll be very strange not personally running this retreat, I have nothing but total faith that Maddy will do an amazing job in my place.
After all, what’s the point in growing if you can’t share it with others? 💫

Welcome to the family Maddy 🫶🏽🧘🏽♀️
When this is the energy of the group 30 minutes after you leave the marina, you know you're in for an incredible few days. 💖
The connection that this group formed I couldn't even put into words, except for saying it was extremely heart centred. By the reflections on night two (even night one) it's as though everyone was speaking and acting from their heart, and it created the most amazing connections between everyone.
Ahh, so forever grateful to have found a career in something that gives me so much happiness. ✨
Excited to be doing it all over again in May!
“The invitation is not to show how in estuve and imaginative you are, but how much you can *notice* of what you’ve already got.
& appreciate and share that with the people around you.”
We’re all here with unique purposes and gifts, find what that is (it’s usually what makes you happiest) and spread it like confetti (of the natural kind 😉).
🤍✨

Quote of the year for me 🤍✨
We work best when we build each other up and support each other, so why would we choose to do anything else? 🥰
I love bringing the people around me in to my retreats, whenever & however I can.
It wasn’t so long ago that my remote copy writing & marketing hustle began, because the people closet to me put their total faith in me 🤍
And if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
If you have the opportunity to support someone close to you grow, why wouldn’t you? 🫶🏽
It might not work out, but what if it does? And it was because you gave them the nudge they needed?
Thursday thoughts 💭
Note to Self 📝
Sunrise movement and meditation on morning two of our last retreat is not a teaching moment I’m likely to forget any time soon. ✨
We woke to glassy seas and stillness in Nara Inlet, as we moved our bodies and practiced pranayama before sitting in a guided meditation.
It’s one of my favourite meditations to teach, envisioning and sending out smiles into the world before dedicating that feeling to someone who you feel may need it.
Just as I invited these wonderful women to imagine this person sitting, smiling in front of them, the sun rose over the mountains and shone down on everyone. 🌞
The feeling of bliss, contentment, gratitude and love that surrounded the boat moved me in such a way it brought tears to my eyes.
People connecting in this way, so loving and open, is what these retreats are all about for me.
What a special, special thing. ⛵️
Thanks to my beautiful soul sister for capturing the moments before ~

“What would you do, if you knew you could not fail?” 🌞
- imagine if this was the way we perceived our lives, always.
This time last week… 😌
I’m still trying to figure out which my favourite outdoor classroom is on the islands… this sand spit is pretty high up there 🏝
26/9 What is Yoga for Me? 🧘🏽♀️
It’s connecting to, and recognising my self.
Not my physical self, not my mind or my emotions.
My true, deep, inner self. ✨
It’s creating and maintaining that space within, an inner knowing, where I can return to and rest no matter what is going on around me or where I am.
It’s my deep inner belief that I will be okay, more than okay, and I am here for a unique purpose.
Where I find stillness, peace, and a softness that always brings a smile to my lips.
Where I am me. 🥰
Yoga is the path that leads me to this place, and meditation is the door.
And for that, I am forever grateful. 🦋
Still one of my all time favourite places in the world 🌎
And just like that, our Yoga & Sailing Retreat is officially SOLD OUT with one month to go 🥰✨🧘🏽♀️

There's Nothing Basic About These "Beginner" Yoga Poses They look so very simple, but these asanas challenge your body and your mind.
Be willing to fail ✔️
This is a big one for me. I guess for everyone, really.
I remember a friend of mine recently said: “you don’t think you’ve missed the boat with your retreats?” And although it was said in such a harmless and inquisitive way, I took it straight to heart.
Have I missed the boat? What makes me think I can lead retreats, I’m only 27? What if they don’t get out of my retreats what I want them to? What if I get no bookings? How embarrassing would that be?
I have to keep re-wiring my thinking, and I think that’s a big part of what life is and what my yoga journey has taught me. Catch yourself when you’re thinking uncertainly, and flip it around. My friend didn’t mean anything negative, but my brain was wired to receive it as criticism. Re-wire your brain for positivity. 🌻
Failure is a good thing. Be proud of it. Be proud of yourself. Failure means you tried something out of your comfort zone, regardless of the outcome, and that’s pretty great. There are a million reasons why some things don’t work out, and a lot of them have absolutely nothing to do with you. Remember that when your insecurities tell you differently.
I’ve had to cancel before, but I’ve also run successful ones, with another just about to sell out. Sometimes the timing just isn’t right, maybe life wanted me elsewhere for that moment in time.
Re-wire your reaction to failure.
So this post is to remind myself, and to anyone else that needs to hear it, exactly that. Don’t doubt your potential, or yourself.
I hope that whoever I’m teaching can grow and learn as I have through yoga. Maybe just one droplet of something I say, or teach, is the thing that transforms their thinking. That stops them thinking they can’t overcome a hurdle, mental or physical, and realise they can. And that they hold that all inside of them ✨
All we can do is our best.
& if you haven’t had a fail… maybe it’s time to take a leap?

Ps- Big ups to this little lady on my right for being my mentor and teaching alongside me, sharing her wisdom and beauty for all who cross her path. 💫 I am forever grateful for you.

Still in awe of this beautiful place. 🌱
TB to Soulful Saturday’s spent:
• swimming in crystal clear water;
• watching a storm front roll over the beach (after hearing a Aussie lad very confidently assure us it would NOT rain (it literally poured 3 minutes later 😅));
• having approx. a whole village worth of Lombok children swimming with us in the rain as we played shoulder fights, ball games and whizzies with them (this was actually so heart warming 🥹);
• taking a million more photos of cows for the camera roll; and
• possibly one of the best scooter rides I’ve ever done 🛵
Life over here is so humbling and I am all kinds of into it 🇮🇩 Terimakasih Indonesia
