Final day of Theater Arts Camp and these young actors hit it out of the park with their monologues!
Each actor portrayed their characters so well. They really transformed themselves! BRAVO 👏🏼

Next up: Secret Garden 🪴 Camps start next week! We have just a few more spots open in both the morning & afternoon groups. We can’t wait to see what we create!

Our Secret Garden 🪴 Camp is just around the corner!

Which gardens will we visit this year and what secrets will they hold? The beauty in nature surrounds us, touches all of our senses, and ignites a ceaseless curiosity.

We’ll observe, reflect, and express ourselves through movement and art together.

There are still a couple spots open in the morning section. 10am-12pm, June 10-14. Come join us and let nature move you. Sign up on our website or use the link in our stories.

School’s out and it’s time for some summer fun!

Our Summer Dance Intensive is just one month away! This camp is designed for dancers rising grades 7-12. Camp runs June 17-21, 10am-2pm and will be taught by Serena Herschleb. We asked Serena to share a little about what she’s been up to and her plans for the camp. Read 👇 to see what she has to say!

I’m so excited to be teaching a dance intensive this summer! Dance has been an integral part of who I am for most of my life and I feel so lucky to share this passion with others. I am currently finishing my second year at Western Washington University where I am pursuing a BS in Environmental Science and a minor in dance.

In the dance program at WWU I’ve taken classes in contemporary, choreography, and functional alignment and have performed three times on the performing arts center main stage. I’ve had the opportunity to work with members of the Bellingham community to create original dance pieces and have just been hired as a teacher at “The Dance Studio” starting in the fall.

I’m so excited to bring everything I’ve learned back to Current Rhythms during this intensive. I’d like to shape the intensive around what the students are most interested in with a focus on contemporary technique and choreographical exploration.

L-2 days until our spring dance performance of Space Dance Odyssey which will mark this dancer’s final bow on the North Star Theater’s stage.

Giannaleah Dunn Gullet has grown up with us at the studio taking on many theatre & dance roles from being a Western Sandpiper to the White Rabbit. We’ve always been impressed with Giannaleah’s memory and have relied on it many times during questionable choreographic moments! She brings emotion to her movements elevating them from “the steps”. Her tenacity in both theater and dance is commendable. We hope she continues in her new home and community and wish her all the best.

She’s currently nursing a rolled ankle and could use our best wishes so she makes it on the stage this weekend!

FCBD stands for Fat Chance Belly Dance, a folkloric fusion of many styles of belly dance created by Carolena Nericcio in the 80's in California, borne of all her previous dance education, that focuses on group dynamics and non verbal communication and cues.

Tori Backlund first fell in love with dance in elementary and has been moving to the beat ever since. She took her first belly dance class in high school and joined an amateur troupe in 2009 and found the wonderful Alaskan FCDB community.
