“Expensive Brunette” (a new term going around for those rich brunette looks)

Brunette colors like this can often not look multi dimensional in certain light. Because the highlights are not super bright, the contrast doesn’t always appear unless you are in the right lighting. Something to keep in mind when asking for a color like this.

This has actually been of one of my favorite ways to color brunettes as they look super shiny, rich, and healthy. The perfect fall color IMO 😍

This year has been a year of brunette classes for me. Specifically focusing on keeping brunettes…. brunette, and not over highlighting. Less is more and I absolutely love it.

How should you upkeep this blonde?

1. Davines Heart of a glass shampoo and conditioner and treatment mask
2. Trims every 3-4 months
3. Upkeep color by alternating between mini services and longer ones (3-4 months between services).
4. Use heat defense spray when using hot tools.
5. Use a little oi oil or oi milk on the ends of the hair before brushing (dry and/or wet).

What other things would you do to keep this blonde color and hair healthy?

Finished with a blowout using This is a Blowdry Primer and Volumizing Mousse. Maintenance is every 4 weeks for grey coverage and glossing to keep red vibrant.

Been doing lots of color corrections and annual four hour sessions for the blondes lately so I’ve been burning through the foils!

During this session we did the following:
•Money piece
•Face frame detailing
•Slices of two different blondes with a few teasilights
•Wet balayage
•Root tap
•Gloss

Everyone who sit in my chair gets custom color that may utilize any of the above techniques. All of which depends on the ultimate goal for your hair and your color history.

Before/After 5+ Hr Color Correction

To create a clean, more even blonde, it requires a very detailed process. Every foil will be treated differently and there will be A LOT of them.

Foils will be rinsed out when they are ready, not all at the end. Treatments and bond builders will be used to help minimize damage. And a good haircut to clean up the bad ends.

Why would you want to do one long session verses many sessions over time? It definitely depends on the situation but mostly- Hair Integrity.

Doing one longer session verses multiple over time means there will be no overlapping of lightener. Thus less damage.

Each color correction situation is different but this is a perfect example of where one long session was best to meet the goal.

Here we wanted to create a more even blonde, remove banding and unevenness, keep it rooty for lower maintenance, do a blended money piece, and have more neutral platinum color.

I’ve been finishing clients with a traditional blowout lately and having been living for the volume and bounce it gives. 🤩

Is it really a vacation when you bring the kids 🤪

This weather has definitely been an upgrade and we’ve been enjoying seeing my husband’s family and friends.

Half way through and I’m already thinking of excuses not to leave lol

Off to visit my husband’s family in Mexico!

The boys and are so excited get some sun (much needed with this gloomy winter), play in the waves, eat some amazing food, and of course pool time.

Davines has a lot of great smelling products but this one is always met with a “hmm that smells amazing”. Followed closing by the shimmering spray, medium, and strong hairspray.

Some tips about this color: She lifts beautifully bc she is naturally lighter and has no previous dark color on her hair. This lightness and tone is not always achievable when one has previous darker color history.

Four hour blonding session for this beauty.

Why four hours? A blonding service like this is a heavily detailed service so application alone can take 1.5+ hrs, 30-45+ minutes processing, root shadow/wet balayage/toning 20-30+ minutes, haircut 30 minutes, dry and style 30 minutes. And if you have long/thick hair, you can add even more time.

Now the best thing is that maintaining this look can be done with a mini session where we just highlight the face frame and top part (plus gloss and root shadow) in about 2 hours.

Depending on your hair goals/lifestyle, full sessions only need to be done about twice a year and in between we maintain! :)
