I’ve been going through all our things, putting them into one of four categories —bring, store, sell, donate. While we can technically bring everything with us to Germany, I want to only bring things we need and love. For example, I love every detail in this photo and everything seen in this photo will be coming with us. I mean, I can’t move to Germany and NOT take Beethoven with me! He needs to be in his homeland!
Notice anything different? It’s hard to believe, but we’re going to have to say goodbye to this beautiful home of ours in Oklahoma (only temporarily—we’ll be renting it out while we’re gone). Will you follow along as we find a home in Germany?
👋🏼 Hi! Rug Lady here stopping by to show you this this stunning . This runner is 3.1x6 ft, hand-knotted, and goes back around 80 years or so. And wouldn’t you know it’s still perfect and beautiful and durable. Vintage wool rugs are definitely the way to go and this one is at my booth (A House Called Esch) at This weekend (Saturday, Sunday) just happens to be the Fall in Love with Vintage sale event and everything in my booth (including this rug if it’s still around) will be 20% off.
I’m in a moment of life where I have no idea what kind of change is in store for me. (Although I guess you could argue that that’s the case for every person. But I guess what I mean is—I KNOW a big change is coming, I just don’t know how big). Being married to an Air Force guy and moving every few years across the world has taught me not to fear change. When I look back at all the times I resisted change, I realize that what was waiting for me on the other side was an incredible experience that helped me become the person I am right now—and I happen to really like that person. So even though the unknown can be unsettling, I’m excited to see what great adventure will come next.
Also, on an unrelated note, if you get a vintage rug for no other reason than because your dog will LOVE it, you won’t regret it. 😀
I wanted so badly to wait and post these for tomorrow. But I just couldn’t. I have the most talented friends, I swear. arranged this bouquet with flowers from her yard. I took one photo of them and when I looked at the screen to preview it I gasped. The colors are so beautiful and vibrant. Happy Birthday to me! 😀
If you need me, you can find me in this chair. The entire morning has been spent working in the garden and cleaning out the garage. Now comes the resting. Have a beautiful Saturday, everyone!
This week’s is an antique Bernhardt oak hutch (all one piece). It’s in wonderful vintage condition, with carved wood details, glass, and an eclectic variety of vintage hardware. Come see it at my booth at
This week’s is a pair of vintage (mid-century) night stands. I shop at vintage stores a LOT and let me tell you—it can be hard to come across a matching set of nightstands. Don’t wait—come snag these this weekend at !
The entryway lets anyone who walks in your house know what to expect in the rest of the house. It should show your style, your personality. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll keep the mirror/rug wall,(I get bored with things pretty quickly) but I’m still liking it for now.
One of these days I’m going to switch out some art. When I designed this gallery wall, I filled in empty spaces with inexpensive art/prints. But over the years, I’ve added some fabulous one of a kind artwork to my collection. It’s so hard to switch out pieces though, because a gallery wall like this is like a puzzle and you need very specific sizes if you want to trade out art without rearranging the entire wall. So I keep putting it off. But soon I plan to devote a day to updating it! Stay tuned.
Simone wanted a bold entryway with beautiful wallpaper and a moody paint color. This is the finished product, which, from start to finish took less than 2 months. Scroll through to see what Olive the Pug thinks about the new space.

My yoga/music studio is complete! Thanks to for selling me this perfect mid-century bookshelf. It’s the ideal size for this space and now all my music and yoga books can be in one room. ❤️.
When we found this house, there was only one thing I didn’t love about it. These columns. The style of the columns doesn’t fit in with this craftsman/cape cod style home. So for years now, I have tried to crop them out of photos. I thought I could only post “perfect” photos. I’m not sure why I’ve changed my opinion now, but I have. I mean, if I could snap my fingers and have the columns disappear, I still would. But there are so many other things I would rather spend my time/money/energy focusing on. Once that mindset shifted for me, I realized I actually don’t mind the columns anymore. I’m an eclectic kind of gal, and maybe these columns are just another quirky thing I love about this house. So my unsolicited advice to you, is to try to see the beauty in existing features of your house. If you can’t remove a feature you don’t like, what if you try to embrace it instead? I don’t know about you, but I get really tired of seeing the same perfect, beige/gray/white rooms. Let’s embrace what makes our homes different than everyone else’s bc that’s where the real beauty is.
. Come snag this amazing vintage hand carved Don Quixote at the sale tomorrow! He’s amazing isn’t he?
. How gorgeous are these roses?! I’m obsessed.
I’ve been on a bit of an Instagram break lately. But what a way to come back, am I right? This rug is the first rug I’ve ever had in the living room (and there have been a LOT of rugs in the living room) that is actually big enough for the room. Usually I have a smaller rug that I layer with a jute rug or something. I feel like this is a game changer. And it is soooo soft and plush. The kids and the dogs both love it. I have a feeling this rug will stay in here for a while.
This week’s is a LIKE NEW armchair and ottoman. This set ALMOST ended up in my house—I saw it and started imagining myself curled up in it with a blanket and a book and a dog. The vegan leather is ideal for those of you who let their pets get on the furniture like I do. Come buy it before I change my mind and take it back to my home! It’s at
No matter your color palette, rest assured you can find the unique vintage pieces that fit within it in my booth at
This photo is three years old but I saw it for the first time today. (It was on my husband’s phone). How could I not devote an entire square to this guy?!?! ❤️
This week’s is a Turkish Oushak rug. It measures 2.1 x 8 ft. It would look stunning in a kitchen, entryway, or hallway. This beauty is on its way up to today.
I won these chairs in an auction bid recently. I had been wanting wishbone chairs for a while but couldn’t justify the cost. I’m shocked but delighted that my low bid won them. So here they are in their first Instagram post.
When I was in my 20’s I went to an estate sale with my parents. This piano was at that estate sale and my dad asked me if I wanted it. Of course I said yes, and he bought it for me and moved it into my house. It’s a great piano, stays in tune nicely, and I love the way it looks. I don’t foresee myself ever giving it up. Later today I’ll be adding some new items to my booth at so come check it out!!
