I had an excellent first day as a newly appointed member of the Local Government Association’s City Regions Board at their HQ in Smith Square, London.
This Board has responsibility for economic growth, transport infrastructure, skills & public sector reform & my appointment gives a seat at the top table of local government.
I’m looking forward to shaping a White Paper on the powers local government will need to start rebuilding our crumbling country after 13 years of Tory failure.

Our Labour Regency ward councillor, Alison Thomson, has asked us to post this notice of closure of Western Road in both directions overnight between 9pm and 6am on 18 - 19 September between Regent Hill and Clarence Square. This closure is for a new lift to be installed at H&M. A large crane is needed for the installation. Traffic will be diverted via Seven Dials in both directions (sorry Seven Dials but the traffic should be relatively light at that time). We think it is fantastic to get this information from our ward councillor. Please keep it coming!!! 👏🏻🙏🏻

This is a Tory crisis like no other.
But as our Housing Chair Cllr Gill Williams writes, our bold strategy is delivering:

🏘️Preventing homelessness in a larger proportion of cases than a year ago
☀️1000 solar panel systems installed on our social housing stock over the next 3 years.
However with 7000 on our housing list we must accelerate housebuilding in , to turn despair into hope.
