I was going to do a whole self portrait session with my “professional” camera for my birthday, but that didn’t pan out. Instead I spent time with great friends and had calls with people I love and miss. That was better. Time with people you love is always, always better.♥️ Here’s me and guava tree taken with my iPhone just so there’s something. And here’s to spending more time with people you love and miss in 2024.
The future has already passed… and now is not a fixed point in time, but we can still live in this moment.

If one day you’re walking around Santa Monica and look up, you just might catch literally hanging around.
Taken years ago and still one of my favorites. I’ve posted it everywhere else but here. Just a reminder to embrace the waves. 🌊
Sometimes you don’t know if you like something until you let it sit for a while. And then you grow different eyes and different skin and your heart opens in different places and that something hits you just right. | Venice Beach Skate Park, Los Angeles, CA (aka: when you see old photos with new eyes. aka: the last upload glitched and had duplicates so I had to reupload)
Saying hi. Hi. 👋 Now go outside.🌿

Park After Dark: Full Moon Hike at Paramount Ranch 🌕
Decided to go for a last minute hike at the Paramount Ranch organized by .
First time hiking at night and it was so much fun. We carried red lights to light the path and to make sure we didn’t disorient wildlife. Discussed the significance of the night sky, and watched the August Super Moon through telescopes as it rose over the Santa Monica mountains. ⛰🌕
Oh, and we were also accompanied by lots of baby bats!🦇
We feel tired because we’re carrying the dead weight of a world that doesn’t serve us on our shoulders.

An unguided exploration in triptych form.
Los Banos, San Joaquin Valley, Central California. Route 152 & Interstate 5 junction.
There’s something about driving down a California highway on a late summer afternoon, windows rolled down, breeze in your hair, music playing on the radio.

When they say creative executive, they don’t mean this? (Still one of my favorite “work” photos from my time working at Disney Interactive as Head of Content Development). Facebook reminded me of this photo and it made chuckle. So here ya go.🙃 I need that wig…
Currently reading The Intersectional Environmentalist by / .📚
Been immersing myself in all things nature, native plants, environmentalism, and climate anxiety (especially now living in a red zone), so you’ll probably see more nature-related posts on this account. (It’s always been nature-heavy, but going forward it’ll be nature-focused.) Been thinking about how I can do a bit more good in the world, and this is one small and easy way.🌿
An excerpt from the book:
“We can’t save the planet without uplifting the voices of its people, especially those most often unheard. We should care about the protection of our planet - to me, these fights are the same. As a society, we often forget that humans are part of our global ecosystem and that we don’t exist separately from nature; we coexist with it each and every day.”
————
“The Intersectional Environmentalist is an introduction to the intersection of environmentalism, racism, and privilege, and an acknowledgement of the fundamental truth that we cannot save the planet without uplifting the voices of its people. …the fight for the planet lies in tandem with the fight for civil rights; in fact, one cannot exist without the other.”
