Very mild conditions will continue on Wednesday. A cold front will bring the next chances for showers to the region Wednesday night into Thursday along with briefly cooler conditions to close out the week. Another warming trend will commence early next week.
We’ll see highs reach the 50s over the next couple of days with some spots likely to hit 60 tomorrow. This is before a system of showers moves through on Thursday cooling things off a bit for the end of the week.

Continued mild conditions are forecast through Thursday. There is a chance for showers late Wednesday night through Thursday, mainly south of I-80. A cold front then brings cooler temperatures for Friday.

It’ll be cold and windy to start our Sunday, but conditions will improve later in the day. Temperatures will get warmer with each day through midweek with a chance for a little rain on Thursday.
The Climate Prediction Center is indicating that there is a high likelihood (70-80%) that temperatures Feb. 25 to Mar. 2 will be Above Normal! Highs could be as much as 10 to 25 degrees above normal! Normally highs then are 35 to 44, while lows are 19 to 26. ⛳⚾🏀🏃🚲

Blustery southwest winds gusting up to 30-40 mph will make for a cold feeling night tonight, but otherwise temperatures will once again return back above normal for most of the upcoming week. It will be dry until a low chance for rain on Thursday.

Looks like I-80 was the northern edge of the sticking snow yesterday. There are widespread reports of 4-6 inches of snow across central Illinois. This could have some impact in the speed and magnitude of the warmup which is on tap in Chicagoland. That “warmer” air is going to be moving over a fairly stout snowpack.

Tonight will be the coldest night in almost a month with temperatures expected to fall into the teens area-wide and blustery winds resulting in near-zero wind chills. After a blustery and chilly Saturday, especially by this month’s standards, temperatures will trend warmer once again heading into next week.

Snow will overspread central IL this morning, with Periods of moderate to heavy snow this morning into afternoon centered on the I-72 corridor from Jacksonville to Danville. Snow will shift southeast and diminish mid to late afternoon. Expect 2 to 5 inches over most of the area.

Bands of snow will develop in the pre-dawn hours of Friday primarily to the south of I-88, with the focus for accumulations in the 1-3” range and potential slick travel looking to be near and south of the Illinois and Kankakee Rivers.
Non accumulating light snow or flurries will likely fall north of the accumulating snow, possibly as far north as the I-90 corridor.
The snow will come to an end by mid day or early afternoon north of I-80 and by the mid to late afternoon south of I-80.
Leave extra travel time and prepare for slick travel in spots if you will be driving across the affected areas on Friday.

Showers arrive late tonight into early tomorrow morning (you might even hear a rumble of thunder). Snow may mix in near the Wisconsin/Illinois state line where slushy accumulations can't be ruled out. Gusty northwest winds develop tomorrow morning behind a cold front with colder conditions in store Friday and Saturday. There is a 30-60% chance of snow late Thursday night into Friday which could result in slick travel for the morning and early afternoon commutes, highest chances near and south of I-88.

We’re heading into an active weather pattern with multiple chances for precipitation this week, beginning with the potential for snow south of I-80 tonight (30% chance). After another warmer day tomorrow, highs will trend colder by the end of the week.

There is a 30-45% chance for a burst of snow tonight south of I-80 which could lead to an area of slick travel early Wednesday morning. The next rain and snow chances arrive Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Some slushy snow accumulations are possible, mainly north of I-88 and near the WI/IL state line. Conditions will turn colder Friday and Saturday along with additional chances for snow.
Not a bad day. Our afternoon high was 47°. Some cirrus clouds at sunset this evening.
Our morning low was a frosty 19°.
The next precipitation chances will arrive Wednesday night into Thursday. Colder conditions arrive Friday and into next weekend with a few chances for light snow.
The mild pattern is coming to an end with a return of high temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s, and overnight lows in the mid 20s to around 30. There may be periodic chances for snow showers next week, though it’s too soon to pick out which day and where.
Mild and breezy conditions are expected today. A few showers may develop tonight, mainly south and east of I-55. Otherwise, other than a small chance for some light snow south of the Kankakee River on Monday, mainly dry conditions are expected into next week.

While storms will be weakening as they move east, strong to severe storms will be possible along and west of I-39 with the main threat of damaging winds and large hail.

Don’t be surprised if you hear thunder this evening! Scattered showers and a few storms are poised to develop and track across northern Illinois (mainly northwest of Interstate 55). The strongest storm may produce locally damaging winds and hail, mainly near Interstate 39.
[4:35 am Thu 02/08/24] - There is a chance for scattered showers and storms early this evening (~5 to 9 pm CST) across portions of northern IL, primarily along and northwest of I-55. The strongest storms will be capable of producing locally damaging winds and some hail.
[4:45 PM CST Wednesday 2/7/2024]
Unseasonably mild weather for early February will continue through Friday, with daytime highs in the 50s (~60° in spots on Friday!). It will become windy on Thursday with southerly gusts 35 to 40 mph developing by afternoon, and continuing into the evening hours.
Scattered showers will develop from the west by midday Thursday, and will linger Thursday evening. There is a slight chance of a few thunderstorms late Thursday afternoon and evening, which could produce brief localized wind gusts of 45 mph or higher.
After near record warmth on Friday, there is another chance of showers Friday night, but otherwise dry and slightly cooler (but still above average) weather conditions are expected into the weekend.
