Here’s one for Memory Lane. The City Streets asked us to do some vocals on their album a few years back. Rick and Haley’s voices blended so well together. I think they should have done a whole album together.

Oh my goodness, this brings back memories. Hat's off to 100 Years was recorded in 1983 to commemorate our Centennial Celebration. Ray Fox from CHAT produced the 45 record. Len Kohls wrote it with help from Bob Hutchinson and I. Bob worked his magic on guitar and I did the lead vocals and harmonies. My dad, Gordon Myrol sang the beautiful deep background vocals that were so popular back then.

It’s a real pleasure to scroll through the posts and read the amazing experiences so many of our friends have had with Ian Tyson.
I only had a whisper of a moment with him back in the day when I met him and then wrote him a fan letter. He sent me a signed pic and I know it’s in a place of honour in my special memoirs.
The most incredible experience I had was when he sang for the Fallen Four at the Butterdome. I can’t imagine a more challenging place to sing. There were thousands of people there and you could hear a pin drop. There wasn’t even the sound of uniforms or clothing rustling. In my mind, he truly became a knight in shining armour to us after that. He brought so much comfort to so many that day.
We really loved sitting around and listening to Gord Matthews and Stewart MacDougall tell stories about their days playing for Ian. We’d soak up their tales wide eyed while sipping on a beer and leaning over our own guitars rather than rehearse.
Our heart goes out to Ian Tyson’s family, friends, and fans. It feels strange saying I’m sorry for your loss, since it is not so much of a loss, as it is that our lives have been incredibly enriched by him being our very own songsmith in this vast world of music. Whether you knew him personally or it just felt that way because our Canadian icon was so familiar to us, we have all gained so much more from him being in this life. Thank you for sharing your music with the world Ian Tyson. Rest In Peace cowboy.

When I think of Stu Mitchell, I think teacher.
When I listen to Stu, I think........."rock solid".
When I remember Stu, I think....old friend.
I loved playing music with him and he made the road an extra fun place to be. Stu could sure hold a beat. He was solid and steady and he really knew how to keep everyone in the band 'in the pocket'. He was rhythm.
He was the rock in the role.
And Stu Mitchell was a pro in every way. He was proud to be a professional musician and made sure those around him acted like a professional as well.
He had a way of teaching young upstarts like myself little lessons without us even realizing it. He knew his worth as a working musician and taught those around him that we also had worth - not to give it away - or rather to know when to give it away.
I know that there are two Rebels in heaven filling hearts with some amazing music.
