A Stroke Changed Our Lives

My name is Teresa and my husband had a stroke on May 30th of 2017 that changed our lives.

I had to learn so many things I never thought I would need to know. The term DME (durable medical equipment) meant absolutely nothing to me. Leg braces, tens units, rock tape, shoulder braces, hand braces, physical therapy, bed transfers, wheelchairs. I can now tell you many things about those and why they are important.

I started my blog to help other women that find themselves in this situation. One day you’re driving to work thinking about the day and what to make for dinner (you forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer!) and the next moment you find yourself rushing to the hospital after hearing the word stroke and you’re thrown into a scary situation that requires you to become an advocate, caregiver and champion of your spouses wellbeing.
